What are the possible causes; or is it actually a smoked LVPS?

Search "CLM" "Railroad" and "IC's". Smile

Remove the CLM, re-seat the IC's & clean their contacts, reinsert and you're done.

You might be able to get away with just pressing down firmly on each IC.

Hello

You may have a blown transistor, IC or capacitor on some board. Boards driving yokes can get hit by tube arcs, so unplug the convergence amp ribbon jumper, try removing the focus board completely, try unplugging neckboard 14 pin umbilicals, that sort of stuff. Unplug the wired keypad cable if installed.

Hello

I have seen problems on boards, shorted keypads, and IR sensor-keypad-Acon wires tie wrapped against sharp metal edges (cutting into the wires) more than I have seen failed lvps's; the led is saying the lvps might have failed or might be held down bcause it is seeing a short somewhere in the chassis.

Thanks!!!!! The idea here is to unplug sections from the lvps until a board or cable is disconnected and the lvps can light up. Think vertical amp, Acon board, contrast board, decoder if installed, HVPS, horizontal board, Moome input card, it could be any of these. You will not necessarily get a picture but you want to try things until the red led is gone and that means you unplugged that which is shorted. You will need the control board, keypad or IR sensor and maybe the VIM installed or the chassis cannot be tried.

No offense imagined! People see the LVPS led and go get another LVPS and it often fixes nothing. It means low voltage distress somewhere, but some detective work is needed also. I've seen shorted caps in the wired keypads, shorted IR sensors, wires too tight against metal edges, it can be anywhere.

I pulled the focus board and voila! power cycles with no errors. Wonder where I might get replacement?

I'm sure Tim has a few hundred lying around. Laughing there wa a tech bulleting around late 1997 that added a resistor to all 3 channels on F-board to prevent this failure. Try and get one of those for added reliability.

I snagged one on ebay for $20.00 plus shipping. Came out to around $36.00. It didn't fix the no HV issue but at least the pj (8500) doesn't sit there and click rythmically any more.

I think Curt has a slew too but my info is dated...I talked to him about an F board about 6 months ago.

I sold this machine to Willie 8 or 9 months ago. I have some spare boards and will support him as much as possible until he gets it up and running.

lovebohn,

I sold the PG+. I have a 6PG Xtra and a gasp! digital (Sharp Z2000).

I bought P17's for an Ampro that I had bought from Madpoet, however, Madpoet never shipped the Ampro and refunded my money (long story). Anyway, I needed a machine for the P17's that Terry had shipped almost immediately after I purchased them. About the time I got the 9500LC from Erik, my work (self-employed) picked up to 75-80 hours a week. I only recently dropped to 60 or so hours. So I finally re-assembled the unit.

If my work situation stays like it is, I may get this running and on my ceiling prior to 2008.

Greg,

I own a Unishippers franchise. We are a 3PL (3rd party logistics company). The sales kids who work for me are off the charts this year. It is a good problem to have. Smile

Congrats to the off the charts this year. Thumbs Up One would think that with fuel costs as insane as they are that the opposite would be true. I guess that's a testament to the unique methodology you employ. Here's to hoping '08 treats you just as nicely....now take a vacation and play with your projector, it misses you. Laughing
