Things have finally started to move forward on the theater. I had hoped to post these periodically as things progressed instead of a "batch" download:

WOW! It's really coming along. I love that big metal beam. It looks like small children could use it as a catwalk, it looks HUGE! Shocked

It's been mentioned before, but thank you for sharing this with us! Thumbs Up It's a real treat to see this.

i cant recall the size again, but stewart can do 90' seamless. now the cost (due to handling) is high at that point, but they can do it. when they make screens, they make 90' wide sheets at a time. (really cool process. low ceiling room, then spray on the ceiling the chemicals which make the screen. most of the time, it could be 4 or 5 different types of screens, then they cut it up into the final products.)

but they can do 90' seamless. if somebody tells you other, let me know and i can connect you with the right people.

The 28' width has not been the problem for most suppliers, it's the height requirement that is greater than what the perf machines can handle, and I DON'T want to do a splice! I need about 16.5' in height to accommodate the viewing area and hanging grommets.

Not sure if they can do microperf screens that big.

Just got this e mail from Don Stewart ......

Hi Tom,

No problem. We can produce up to a 36 foot by 90 foot seamless screen
with Cinema Perf. We are limited with our smaller Micro Perf pattern to
screens just under 14 feet high.

Regards,
Don Stewart

I'm having trouble figuring out the pictures but it is probably because I am dumb. I just can't figure out how the projector on the top floor will project on a screen of the far wall as to be seen from the lower floor. Is the top floor supposed to be a balcony? If so, why does the floor go so far towards the screening wall and why doesn't the top floor have any risers?

Sorry if this is a stupid question.

I have really enjoyed this thread so far, especially the arcade antiques and collectables.

Not a problem. What is confusing you is the presence of temporary staging (and a work platform) which allows the workers to easily reach (and work on) the upper part of the theater. After the ceiling work is complete, the platform and staging is removed creating a single (two story) room.

Am I seeing this right? Is that going to be a suspended drywall ceiling? I've never seen it done like that before. Even with a laser, it must have taken quite a while to install all that unistrut.

Yes. Because there is a concrete floor above, the unistrut system is needed in lieu of the wood beams that are normally attached to.

In some ways. Because the screen wall is about 26.5 feet high, the design needs to deal with this height, as well as the number of risers.
