John and Kim don't seem to leave a bloody trail of dissatisfied customers like you and Moome tend to. How do they manage to keep everyone happy?

Who knows. I only know that we've had our mods suspended for several months to find someone to help me with them, and i'm still behind keeping up with upgrades and juggling amny other things (as I'm sure is the same with Moome). And I noticed that Moome has only made a small batch initially, but for some reason he was asked to make many more. So with you constantly making everyone aware of Moome having dissatisfied customers, and me being worse than Moome. It must be somebody out there that cares less. And are willing to wait regardless. Because the request keep coming..

You think it may have something to do with the product, and that most people are very understanding?

Wow!

Phil, I'm sorry to say this, but my respect for you is dwindling fast. You're WAY out of control in this thread. Sad I can more than understand that you're excited about a new product, would like to have it ASAP, and are frustrated because you have to keep waiting, while there are significant delays. And it's been a heck of a long wait. No problem there. That's totally reasonable.

But it's not like you weren't aware of the fact that delays are the norm with Moome, before you ever plunked down your first dollar on this item. Why would any reasonable person expect that this time would be any different? Just because you really, REALLY wish it were so?

So now you feel like it's a good idea to spew venom in this thread, and embarrass yourself Embarassed. You've continually attacked Clarence for expressing his opinions, now you feel comfortable insulting Kal ("you're a really good company shill"), and libeling Moome (calling him a liar). Shocked Kal has done nothing to deserve that kind of treatment from you Thumbs Down, and I think you owe him an apology. And in case you don't know: just because someone turns out to be wrong, or even offers poor estimates , does NOT make them a liar. There's a small matter of "intent to deceive".

I have some questions for you:
1) You said, "Moome has you by the balls on this". I assume this is a position you enjoy, since you incite it repeatedly? Smile
2) When you e-mailed Moome and told him how outraged you were at the delays and the lies, and requested your money back, what did he say?
3) When Moome declines to accept any orders from you on future products (which would be his right to do), how long will it take before you're back here in a public forum browbeating him for that?
4) You said, "... don't seem to leave a bloody trail of dissatisfied customers like you and Moome tend to." Very graphic!
Can you provide the names of Moome's customers who were dissatisfied with the products they received? (Honest Q. I wasn't aware there were any.)
5) What was the last product that YOU created for a customer or an employer? Did you deliver on time based on your initial estimate?
6) following up on 5), have you ever created ANY product yourself, vs. selling/marketing/supporting a product someone else created?
(I ask this because your invectives indicate that you have not, and have no clue about the process.)
7) You've stated here several times that your purpose is to be a "squeaky wheel", so you'll get some grease. And yet:
  • you started b!tching about this back in August, when you already knew Sep20 was the earliest it could ship.
  • you're smart enough to know that Moome CAN'T ship you a product that doesn't exist yet
So, my question is: what is your REAL agenda here?

This thread got a lot nastier than I ever intended. Rather than piss everyone off over something that's really not THAT important to me, I deleted all of my posts to put an end to this. I look forward to someday owning an external Moome box. Thumbs Up

Posted: Fri Nov 02, 2007 1:56 pm    Post subject: What are the Moome "deposit order" folds supposed

Hey folks, I am one of the people that put a deposit down on the HDMI / DVI moome box early this year when moome had a thread on AVS. I am just trying to find out what (if anything) folks in my position should do (to complete the transaction) now that this appears to be almost ready so ship. Is moome going to contact us? Should we contact him? Is Curt Palme going to be shipping out those "deposit orders" for moome or is moome doing this himself? Should we let curt palm know we have a "deposit order" already? Sorry for all the questions but I am just not clear how this is going to work and I am sure others are wondering the same thing.
To anyone else who is on a "deposit plan" and has any info could you please share.
Thanks

This thread is actually for the EXT-HD external analog box, not the MUX-HD HDMI/DVI digital repeater box but I can answer some of your questions:

Quote:
Is moome going to contact us? Should we contact him?

Good question. I thought he usually contacts you, but no harm in asking him.

CurtPalme.com doesn't ship any of Moome's products nor does CurtPalme.com actually take your money. This site just provides a forum and info pages for Moome's products. People who have not given deposits at an earlier date can order Moome products from Moome directly using the ordering pages here. You're paying Moome directly.

I'd suggest you ask in the MUX-HD thread here : https://www.curtpalme.com/forum_archived/viewtopic.php@t=7238.html

I'm also one of the early ones that ordered on AVS before the group buy from here started. I emailed him in early October and he said they would be shipping at the end of October so don't expect them to be far off (fingers crossed).

I will let everyone know when it arrives or when moome contacts me.

Just received the Ext unit today (Sunday no less) got a call from the post office saying they had a package from Taiwan and where I lived so they could bring it out today. Just took it out it looks good and now its down to the theater to connect it up. Just thought I would let everyone know they are on the way.

Received my Moome ext. box today. Exactly 2 months and 3 days later than the last estimate I received, and about 6 months later then the original promise date. I don't mention this to complain. I finally have it. I'm happy. I mention it for the guys that have recently placed orders. To those of you that actually think you're going to receive your order before next spring or summer, I have to say: Laughing Laughing Laughing

Sad thing is, I had HDMI switching needs that I had to address. I couldn't wait any longer and bought other gear to take care of it. At this point, I no longer need Moome's box. Again I'm not complaining. I guess that's just how things go sometimes.

I don't know why you bring this up as you know that things have changed Phil.

Now that orders are placed at curtpalme.com you're not going to see any of these types of promises anymore. Everyone that orders via curtpalme.com will get their Moome product more or less when they expect it. For everyone that placed their order here, these EXT-HD boxes shipped 2-3 weeks later than the original promise date. Not perfect but not 4-6 months.

Will delays still happen? Possibly, especially with brand new items. Moome would be stupid to say that no delays will ever occur. But you're not going to see any more 4-6 month delays as there simply won't be any way to order any of Moome's products until they're actually built and tested. Crazy as it may sound, prior to ordering through curtpalme.com Moome used to promise release dates on products that weren't even designed yet!

Kal,

Sometimes I give you a hard time, but truth be known, I consider you one of a handful of people involved in the CRT cottage industry that's actually on the ball. There's scores of F-ups, you're definitely not one of them. If you had true control over Moome's product delivery, I'm sure there would be zero delays and all orders would be delivered on time. But you don't have control. ANY control. You and everyone else is completely at the mercy of Moome. You still have to base your estimations on the info you receive from Moome, and we know all too well how reliable that is.

But again I'm not complaining. Clarence was right when he said I should already know what to expect from Moome. There's a long, well documented history of Moome and missed deadlines. It should come as no surprise to anyone, including me.

The next time I order a Moome product I will have more realistic expectations.

True, but I lessen the error margin by ignoring all of his estimates until he actually places an order at the factory. Then the only unknown really is whether the factory can get them done in the time they estimated and if Moome can get them packaged and out the door fast enough. I usually add a month just to be safe. If he gives me dates when he's still designing/testing, I just ignore him! Smile

Received my EXT box yesterday and hooked it up today. Only tested the component inputs and the picture looks much improved. As in sharper, darker and richer colors. Have not played with the Gamma yet. I replace Petr's transcoder with Moome's and very happy with it. Not knocking Petr's unit at all, it has performed great until now and will be my back up.

Thanks Moome.
