Yes I'm sorry, I'm not usually that direct on anything so I don't know where that came from. Doug

No worries - just wondering what I did to piss you off...

I realize that I'm new-ish here, but I'm not an idiot and I'm not a jerk, so sorry if something I said rubbed you the wrong way. One of the reasons I like this forum so much is that everybody seems to want to help... everybody. I hope that I can make some contributions and even more with every experience I have with this stuff.

As for the remote, if I could find a service remote for a remotely decent price I would definitely purchase one, but the only one I can find is $180, and that's not happening. I paid $150 for my 1252 in nearly new condition, and got this 6PGx for $85... I can't stomach paying twice the price for the remote!

didn,t you post this afternoon in the buy and sell that you got one?..
did you check with Curt or hammerhead tech? if you totally wash out-I have a setup remote I MIGHT lend you but I am really going to re-emphasize this point--- you REALLY need the NEC setup remote to do the setup, after you look at the manuals and see the flowchart and all of the steps for the setup you will appreciate how important this is,,,,for each and every block or input you set up Shocked

I checked with Hammerhead, they have none in stock. Curt has not emailed me back. The only one I found on the 'bay is $180. I'll obviously keep looking.

I also read several posts on that other A-site which said that the Pronto worked wonderfully for setting the NEC up.

And yes, I have seen the flowcharts in the manual and appreciate the number of keystrokes involved. I also realize that Doug's qualifications in this area are unimpeachable, but that doesn't mean that there is more than one way to do things.

I guess I will wait until Friday when the PJ and Pronto arrive.

I've got a Pronto and an XG. I think it would be impossible. The PC link would be much more usable.

Thanks Mark -

Can you clarify whether the PC link will allow the complete setup? That's the part I'm not sure about. It sure seems like it would be easier to me, too, given there are actual keys, direction arrows, etc. I'm just not sure from my quick blush through the PC control manual whether all the controls are available.

I really appreciate everyone's help with this.

Thanks!
Will

I had thought of the pc link idea last night but did not have a chance to pull out the manual yet...I will check this out after work-I can send you a copy of the file or disc if you need it.

I downloaded the software from the Manuals/Downloads page. There isn't a manual for the PG version but there is one on the XG page. I looked through that one as the software seems similar/the same. Just not sure if you can do all of the adjustments from the software. It would be nice if that was the case. Seems like it would be much easier to do anything from the computer versus any remote.

If you have a .pdf version of the manual for the PG version, I'd definitely like to have that.

Thanks!
