Great work! man you have really focused on the obsession.
It is easy to look at some of the dream system screen shots and lust for a 909,G90,XG135lc etc......hell some guys even - Ampro!
Most of us start small and move up,and your shots could really help someone who is on the fence,entry level machines are getting better and better but your system looks great and is within the realm of almost anyone who has space and place.

yeah and i have great DTS/DD sound system to go with it. i did it all on a budget too. Smile

and yes it is an obsession hehe.

hmm... ok, the high voltages are a little bit scary for me though. i think i'll leave it alone. it looks fine really. but thanks for the help and info. maybe someday i'll give it a try.

but the audio components i have are:

a pair of bose 201 series IV speakers B set.
pair of Fisher studio monitor DS 811 speakers A set.
cerwin vega center channel LS 5C
KLH 100watt 10 inch sub ASW10 - 100C
pair of audio source speakers for surrounds.. cheapies from fleabay.

DVDO iscan plus V2 line doubler
Barco RCVDS QUAD video switcher (which i haven't got to use yet, i'm waiting for a bnc RGBS BNC cable to run to my projector.... anybody know where i can get a manual on this or know how it works?) i figured i could tweak my projector that way.. the contrast pot on my PJ is up all the way and the color and tint controls do nothing when i turn them with using my line doubler.

Pioneer VSX - D409 500watt DTS/DD receiver
LG DN191H DVD player nice dvd player plays divx, mp3s, jpegs... pretty much everything Smile

Sony DVP - NC600 DVD player for playing cds.. its a sucky dvd player but a fine cd player. my parents got tired of it playing dvds half way through then going back to the begginning so they gave it to me. so now i have two dvd players hehe. but i dont even have the video hooked up to anything.
Panasonic PV-9450 HIFI stereo VCR
TCWR545 Sony tape deck
Fisher MT- 32 turntable
XBOX.... i guess that about says it, no need for a model number

EDIT: i was so proud when i finally got a genuine monster cable for my sub.. and an AR tos link cable for my digital cable. that cable is beautiful, its all silvery and shiny(too bad its stuck in the back of my equipment rack/book shelf thing where you can't see it.) .. i want more Smile

Hey I think you might be able to unlock that LG to upconvert to 1080i over component... I think - check on google for LG 191 HDCP code and such... It's one of those models.

Anyways, nice work! I know my three-eyed basement monster scares a lot of people, but I think it's pretty cool!

yes... it is an up converting dvd player. i can do 1080i... BUT i don't have any 1080i display device... yet. whuahahaha.. my line doubler only has a svideo and composite inputs though, i'd like one that has component but most are expensive.

anywho ... thanks very much for the compliments.. and yes. i def do love the three eyed monster(best thing since sliced bread i say, actually sliced bread isn't very good, mostly air.. i found out from watching good eats [fav show] hehe) .... i can't believe i didnt do this years ago.. just for the economical reasons is enough to go to crt. i prob wasnt ready to go this route. i had a projection panel for so many years.. then a d igital... but the lamp didnt last l ong.. i'd like to bring back the projection panel and compare the quality side by side.. i would deff be blown away i'm sure!

Since I don't think Curt sells cables, I think i'm safe to tell you that you should look at partsexpress.com for cabling.

They have several lines which aren't Monster, but in terms of aesthetics and performance will be equal to or better. That, and you can get them for probably 30% of the cost! Again -- good luck.

yeah... the composite was much more contrasty than the RGB... which is why i figured all i would need is a line doubler with a contrast control so i could treak it better. on the HTPC... i don't really do PC heh... i switched to mac. but i know what you mean. but i like my stand alone dvd player. not that my movies don't have enough contrast... i personally think they look perfect. but it would be nice to eff with the color and contrast co ntrols now and then to get a bit different look. i guess my iscan does everything just right so it doesnt have any controls on it. i might get one of those Viewsonic Nextvision things. it scales up to 1280X1024 or something.. just so it doesnt go above 480p for my current setup. i dont want to fry my PJ. that has onscreen menus for contrast and color, etc. they can be found on ebay for cheap. it also has a tv tuner which is nice. i just don't know how well of a line doubler it is.

and thats a good idea on the yokes... i looked like behind the necks of the tubes and i see where to adjust the yokes... but i guess i have to pull that board thats sitting above it first. i haven't tackled that yet, maybe i'll take some pics sometime of a grid (not now though... its a bit late, kind of spent) , maybe you can tell me if thats what my convergence problem is. its always a liiiillllll bit off on one of the corners. not very noticable though. can drive ya a bit crazy.. esp me cuz i'm kind of a perfectionist when it comes ot stuff like this.. i'm sure everybody here is pretty much Wink

some screenshots from the Svideo out on my g4 powerbook.. the color is just amazing on this thing though. these are just desktop images on the second display. my camera can't pick up all the nuances of the images. but its an idea. i have a shot of grid. you can see the convergence stuff...

the bit uneven-ness is the black cloth i'm using to make the screen sort of stand out more. i had a hard time getting it straight.

yeah, they should be focused good, i didnt readjust them after i upgraded my new lenses because i didnt think they needed it

refocus the blue so it's a nice tight beam then just *slightly* defocus it ( you need to do this to make the colors look good ). It may help you.

hmm.. yeah i think it was a bit out of focus, i think it was the beam focus, not the optical
