One of you in the area should go offer to take the whole mess off his hands for half that. As somebody who dickers people all the time (did you see his email address? IkeBuysHouses@gmail.com?), he should be used to it. He's also probably priced it knowing full well that he won't get nearly his asking price. I assume he bought a house (tax sale? foreclosure?) that included it, and is now trying to dump the equipment so he can flip the house. That's probably a deal ripe for the picking if somebody is in the area and is a good negotiator.

Well that guy is dreaming.
The other interesting thing is that there is no Video Processor anywhere in the equation.
My guess would be that this G-90 has never seen a signal beyond 480P.
Does competence like that make you feel warm & fuzzy about tube condition?
Only shocked that it was paired with a reasonable size screen.

Not that any of us would use it, but I think the G90 did have Sony's DRC (Digital Reality Creation) circuit built-in... essentially line quadrupling, IIRC. Could have been used that way, maybe?!?!

If I thought that I could really get a killer deal for it, I would chase it, but I have a feeling that this thing will end up on ebay before all is said and done.

By the way, what is "THS"? Is that supposed to be "THX" you think? I shot a reply to the ad asking if he would entertain offers on individual components. I'll post his reply if I get one.

His response to me was that he was only entertaining package deals unless the projector sells.

Oh well that's a nice post, the seller just emailed me, and I linked him to this thread... before you posted Cliffy.
Then again I don't know why avs doesn't lock out nonpaying members from posting classifieds...should be simple to do, right?

Talk about odd.
Somebody had duplicated word for word everything the "buy houses" guy put in his post & lowered the price by $120.00
Then there was a 3rd CRT add for a 1292 for $700.00.
Turns out that the $11,880 machine was the same peeps selling the 1292. Also turns out that the two adds were for the same machine. I go to take a look & sure enough there is a beat to hell 1292 in a 500 square foot apartment 2 miles from my domicile.

I had called about this one and gently let them know that $11,800 was a little high for what they had. The lady I talked to sounded hot, had that Demi Moore voice. Did you get a look at her when you went to the apartment?

Turns out a friend had posted the $700 add.
She had posted the $11,880 add thinking it would spur more interest.
For awhile I thought they may have had a G-90 & a 1292 due to the nature of the ads.
She was a little bitty women, maybe not even 5ft tall. Blond hair, & zero fat.
Very friendly & seemed to be very religous.
Her address is just out of the boundry of University/ Highland Park (Dallas most affluent area) but rent at this place could not have been more than $500.00.
Place was scary!!

That is so funny 'cos I went to check out that 1292 too. The deal sounded too good to be true and the pic they had of the pj made it look like a real steal. Imagine my surprise when i turn up at the residence and see a really beat up unit. Scary is putting it mildly. I guess it's not all bad 'cos it did turn on and throw an image. Couldn't get a look at the tube faces or figure out how to check the timer without a remote though.
