I have a Sony VPH-1020q, (yeah, I know, big deal hey?) I'm getting a pulsing picture from en external source but when I switch over to the internal test pattern, the picture is great. It's like a flashing, strobing kinda thing. It doesn't really appear on the final projected image, but I don't think its supposed to be that way.
Any Ideas?
Also I'm getting a series of horizontal lines that run from the bottom and slowly work their way up the screen. They're very subtle and not always noticeable. as the lines pass through and image they slightly distort or bend it. Ive tried a few different cables and get the same results. Also tried several different DVD DVR VHS units. It only does this on an external source (internal test pattern is good). I'm using the video input, I don't have any way to input to rbgvh (or whatever).
I'm currently waiting for my board to be repaired by curt for mt Barco 701s. So I'm not too concerned on this issue, however the Sony is cranking out a really sharp picture, also pretty bright and has virtually no tube ware, so I would like to tune it up and keep it for a backup.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hey, still have a 1020 myself but havn't used it in sometime since I switched to Ampro's, Yes another Ampro lover for alot of years now, but as to your problem it sounds like either a ground loop problem or a bad cap, probably in the video circuit since its not there during test pattern. I would try the ground loop problem first but from your post, I'm not sure how much effort you want to put in this. Thanks
