Gino,

Lack of free speech and discouragement of healthy, robust debate - finally did it.

And like Curt said Smile

Sonynut - I think he actually re-opened the other thread, the "Is this an indication that CRT is in its last days? - I think so!" thread was closed for a few hours.

Interesting that he did re-open it. Must have had a change of heart.

I am a CRT enthusiast but I am also not blinded to the progress of digitals.
I think that it's a good idea to keep an open mind about both technologies.

IMO it's useful to be aware of the way the market is heading with respect to CRTs and
you cannot have a discussion about that without bringing pricing into the mix.

Okay Curt / Kal,
crtlover used the word "digital" before his 10 post. Doesn't that deserve a fine or something?

Next time, know what you're talking about before you go spreading rumors. You based your thread on a crap machine that went for the price it should have.

I come to these forums to debate how to make our projectors better. Not to debate the death of them. If you want to debate death, then I'm going to have to figure out how to ignore people on this forum also. Never thought I'd have to do that unless Raster came by.

Come to think of it, I am going to post big fat naked lady porn in every thread you compose about the death of CRT. I don't know where I'll find the porn at just yet, maybe I'll have to hack Curt's personal computer. But I'll find it and post it!!!!!

CZ Eddie,

If I was unaware of the condition of the PJ then my post was mis-informed.
There was nothing in the listing that indicated to me that it was "a crap machine".

Had the thread been allowed to run its natural course (as it was in the end) then someone
would have posted this information (which Tim did in a civil and polite manner) and my error would have been corrected.
No harm done.

Does a genuine error justify being personally pilloried and attacked.

If everyone "knew what they were talking about" then there would be no need for forums such as this
Would it have done you any harm to have cut me a little slack.

I was not, in any way, spreading rumors. CRT is in decline. Why do you feel threatened by this fact.
BTW I never mentioned the word "death" in my post. Everthing dies. I said "decline". There is a difference.

Can a debate be held when a person only wants to listen to one side of an argument?

Debate - def. "to talk about something at length and in detail, especially as part of a formal exchange of opinion"

I'm sorry if I did or said anything to you, to cause you to take such personal offense.

Nope. That's the whole point. You can say whatever the hell you want over here. Even the "D" word. Smile

He did delete it. It didn't say much really. I just got fed up with his Barney Fife attitude and implied he was probably Dwight Schrute in real life.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dwight_Schrute

He never has shown that he has a sense of humor. Very Happy

CZ-I would have to agree with Mark. There will come a day. As I've gloated about recently I just bought a clean BG808 with slightly worn tubes (even wear) for $50! Suppose that's an eBay glitch too? It's happening more frequently.

I will say this...

Do I like the picture I get from a CRT? Yes.
Do I like messing w/ it? Yes. Definitely.
Have I seen a digital that looked as good? No
Do I like lugging the CRT down the basement? NO!
Do I like how much room it takes up? NO! Especially now that I have two down there.
Will I ever buy a digital? Probably not (I'm a cheap a**). Unless both projectors die on me.

Curt
