Have many friends with digitals, and while they are good enough for the masses, anyone who knows PQ knows better.
They all ask me what I think...I just smile and say, "that's no bad".
I haven't seen any size digital that can compete with either my 60" pioneer elite, or my XG...but then I'm not sure any of my friends can even see the difference.
Digital belongs with the average viewer, and that's just fine.

A friend of mine got his new JVC DLA-HD1, and we tested it in my HT.
I had to smile when compared the JVC to my modded Eh8500 (with HD144 lenses and Moome HDMI).
We used same sorce and screen for this test.
The CRT are still the king!!

Someone would really have to show me that a digital can perform better in the area(s) that I find important. And since I am all about black levels and shadow details, I would be surprised any digital can present itself with game.
No, this isn't a case of 80/20 where the digital needs to only present an 80% performance, but it has to BEAT the CRT in what I find important to make it of any value. What digital projectors today have achieved this in a batcave environment? When absolute black is called for, I want no f-ing photons hitting that portion of the screen. Period.
Mickey Mouse magic games of blocking always-on light is BS.

The more I watch digital, the more I find there's another category that's very important to me, and that's 3-D effect.
The digital picture just looks flat, or 2-D to me. However when viewing CRT, you can see depth.
I assume this has to be because of CRT's ability to produce black, and shades of black create that depth of image.

I have and would most definitely recommend digital over CRT to most of my friends and family. I know without a doubt that none of them would be willing to invest the time themselves to properly install and setup the CRT, especially for what *THEY* would feel is a marginal improvement in PQ. And they most definitely would not want to pay several hundred dollars to have a pro come do it for them. I myself made the switch, and while many of you may think that I'm either blind or stupid for doing so, the reality is that FOR ME the only thing that I have remotely missed is the full fade to black. I fully realize the drawbacks/tradeoffs, but for me they were worth it. The same would be even more true for my family/friends.
