Well,
It's not intact. (Missing boards.)
Anyway,.. well, nevermind.
EDIT - When I see a G90 in that condition, I naturally think that's a G90 I could possibly afford. I could never afford a fully operational G90 - or that's how I see it anyway. Anyhow,.. the OP stated he hoped to profit from this so why doesn't he just solicit offers from all interested parties either here on on the bay or whatever?
Good luck to whomever tries to bring it back to life.. that would be awesome.

Well may the best man win, which eliminates me immediately.
grae, I imagine it's best to sell the PJ whole, since you can't verify that any of the parts work. This is one instance when parting a PJ out is probably not a good option.

Hey,
Sorry to try to steer this thread. I got excited to see a fully distressed G90 thinking I should try to buy it. But,.. With the missing boards no longer available I don't think anyone has a very good chance of putting the pj back into service.
Spares on the other hand may be of value to Curt, Terry or John becuase they have other units. The best outcome would be it's transfered to one of them.

Tubes are still being produced for this machine....you can still purchase LUG's even....
the system boards might be a problem
even as a parted out machine Grae you could get some pretty serious dollars for most every thing in that machine...ask JohnHWman about YA boards....Those lenses are worth quite some dollars too....
BUT if it were me I'd flog off the lenses as a finders fee...then accept reasonable offers from the techs out here whom showed interest....for the greater good of all current and future G90 owners.
Seems a shame to split it up....
Hang on if it were me I'd be hanging on to it on the off chance I came across some G boards....who knows, a G90 somewhere might fall from a roof mount......I mean whats it cost you so far dude?

Can anyone tell me why 9" tube prices are so much higher than 8"? A new 8" tube for a Sony G70 costs $650-$700 from VDC; why so much more for something that's only a bit bigger?

That's a raw tube without the LC housing. From Sony they are $750 to 1000 with the housing. I guess Sony is simply trying to capitalize on the parts.
It's the same reason a Porsche spark plug is $12.00...because they CAN get that for them.

Yeah. I helped a friend rebuild a Porsche 914, which has many many parts in common with a VW Bug, believe it or not. I remember one piece in particular, a little 1.5x4" piece of plastic that covered the dome light. It came in two versions, identical except for the emblem on it: with a VW emblem it was about $6, with a Porsche emblem it was about $25 !! (and this was over 20 years ago! That would be a $50 piece of plastic today!)

Sorry if this has somehow turned into a for sale thread, but with all the interest I've garnered from forum members I'm now taking offers on the G90. I'll start out in saying that I was hoping to atleast get $1300 for it...
I think that's a fair price considering how much the lenses are worth. That, coupled with the case, c-elements, remote, chasis, and of course the boards.
Once again, sorry to the mods for changing the direction of the thread. Understandable if you want to move it to the for sale section.

That vertical line is cause when the horizontal deflection sfails and the picture collapses into a single line in the middle of the tube.

but there's a slightly dotted section of burn... did it just go POOF and leave the burn, because of such catastrophic overload, or did it operate in that condition for some time (minutes?)?

oh.. sorry.... but to answer my question, does it happen because of a severe overload and just go "poof," or did it stay that way for a while?

PM sent. Now that I have two here, it might just be worth getting those boards so I have stock. One of these sets here is working and has toasted tubes, so I've got no issues putting in flaky boards as the tubes are already ruined.
