I bought a moome card probably almost a year ago for my NEC XG 1351 It has never worked really right with my Toshiba HD-DVD Player on the DVI Port. BTW it works great on componet. But I think I will soon want to try a PS3 or BR player and for those the digital path will be required. Could I send the card back to have it updated?
Thanks!
Mike

I've a moome card too (on my Marquee 8500), it's 1 year too and soon I'll buy a PS3, and... what's style of problem can I've with a PS3 ?
And, what means EDID ? And what's the update ? (a new chip to put on the card?)
Thanks.

Yes, it's a new chip - replacing the current EDID chip.
You have to be able to solder surface mount devices. Or send your card to Moome for rework.

Ok, thank you.
And what's the "problem" (if there are) if I'm playing a Bluray with a PS3 (1080p) ?

I can reprogram all flavors of Moome cards via the HDMI or DVI port.
So there is no need to replace the chip.
I am willing to do this for $7.50 plus return postage.

How do you make sure the second block in the E-EDID doesn't get touched?

I can reprogram all of the chip or just part of it and make a new checksum.

My buddy Arli has the software. You can do it through the video card on your computer. I've asked moome to send me an updated file to program to my ISS board but he has not done it.
I think there needs to be a solution to be able to program yourself from your computer. This way, moome could just email out an updated file to everyone to fix compatibility issues.
My 2 cents.
Cliff

For those of you with HTPC's, you might want to grab a free copy of Monitor Asset Manager here
http://www.entechtaiwan.net/util/moninfo.shtm
I just got it here at work and played with it a little but I'm going to get it on the laptop at home, open a serial connection to the Marquee with moome v1.0, blank the laptop monitor, and see if the program can't burrow into the moome. I doubt it but we'll see.

As far as I know, MonInfo tool can't write EDID blocks. It just read them and translate them in a text file.
Cliff, what is the software name that you have to reprogram EDID ?

Correct John..it can't reprogram. I didn't mean to imply that and I apologize. (Sometimes I think and write in hyroglyphics)
One interesting thing I stumbled across, which I'm sure is general knowledge to others, is that Lumagen produces and distributes regular updates to their firmware including EDID. Of course if you have additional EDID's in the chain that aren't correct, then that nulls the coolness of owning a Lumagen. I'll keep digging for EDID authoring/writing/etc. Moome must write his own custom variations of version 1.3 EDID's.

Disclaimer: I know nothing about any of this stuff, don't go zapping your EDID. I just enjoy the thrill of the hunt and learning while googling.
