I am all for a well decorated room, but when I sit down in front of a projection screen I do not want to know what is outside the viewing screen. As such, I ask myself what distracts me (almost everything) and what can I do to minimize or eliminate distractions.

As such, it should be surprising at the bat cave in my home. But, I realize that not everyone is like me. In fact, the entire digital world is on the opposite side of the universe in they are ok with waste light, spill light, etc., but I do wonder about those that have a love for Black in an image and then don't do everything possible to make sure their room is tailored for it.

So, being that this is a CRT enthusiast forum with most of the folks with a common preference, I have to ask how many of you are not entertaining very dark wall, floor, and ceiling colorations, and then ask why not?

I'm not a fan of the "black cave" approach. I worked with a client who wanted ABSOLUTE SILENCE in his viewing room. No lights nothing.

I'm in favor of a darker room thats comfortable. Reclining couch, darker walls , comfy carpet, placing the components behind smoked glass. Thats enough for me.
