I'm not surprised you also got this one wrong too. Let me one step it for you:
I've always had a probe or other device to use for color calibrations and such.
I mainly used it for Commercial Calibrations and only a few HT setups, but used to do much more HT during the early years
My expertise is mainly in Projector SETUP and technical stuff.
And so that you'll know, when Craig comes to this area, He'll be doing a calibration for me. I could do it for myself, but when Craig stops by he always offer to calibrate my setup. So no need for me to do it, I'd have the best out there taking care of it for me. And when he comes by, we both get into the more in-dept science of his work, and we also get into the technical aspects of the video chain.
So there you go..

My video chain, with my Special 02 VIM (no peaking). The camera fails in capturing the finer detail on the screen, but as I always says, it should be able to give an idea of what it looks like on the screen itself.
Blu Ray player direct to the Moome.

Playing with the Probe. And it is of course not accurate but a little helpful still

Whats not accurate? Your probe, ability to use it, or both? LOl.

Maybe we'll get a better idea after you post those shots you kept promising you would, once you installed your new boards. I'm thinking since your shots are going to be so much better than mine, I'll just use the shots you post as a reference..
So go ahead, post your shots and let everyone see how much better they are..

Mike,
The screen cap vs your posted shots are so far off on color from the Master (you), that its hard to believe you have a clue on how to calibrate. Your gray scale from eyeballing it is probably not even close. You have a probe and are fiddling with it???? I was in Washington for a week and on San Juan Island, so I will get back on the PJ after work. Boards installed and projector working. I will post shots of the set-up soon. Uncalibrated and calibrated for you. You certainly give people a chuckle.

Oh, I'm surprised you noticed that. But again, considering how many times you jump in and criticize whatever I do, I'm thinking by now you would have no need to continue pointing this out. Oh, and let me not forget there is a lot to learn about an analog video chain that's really capable of resolving native 1080P, as well as, there's a lot to learn about why these shots have been constantly posted as such. I say that because of the MANY times I've already explained this, but yet you consistently want to pint out something that's done on purpose and for a purpose. You think you could find something worthwhile to point out, or something that you could understand the technical reason for why it's being done ?
And would it make your day if I also made my shots look like the screencaps. Did you know that can also be done?

So where did I post that these particular shots are from a calibrated setup, and do you think there should be rules for this thread requiring all shots to be calibrated?

This should be your only concern here.
| Quote: | | I will post shots of the set-up soon. Uncalibrated and calibrated for you |
Why un-calibrated. Why also post un-calibrated shots here, when they have been so bothersome for you.
| Quote: | | You certainly give people a chuckle |
Well, I'm glad to see you got beyond your temper tantrum
Oh and BTW.. when you post your shots, do some of the same from this last group and let us see how well you're able to get the gray beard and hair to be its natural color. No tint or hinges of anything else

I'm now playing with a very special wide band 02 VIM, that has exceptional flat response. And there is absolutely no peaking at all, and it's also very low noise. This is a special work that I'll not duplicate.
However, these two cheap cameras I'm using fails terrible in capturing much of what's on the screen, and the green LCP really blooms when using this 02 VIM, so much it shows in the shots. So a better camera is on the to-do list.

Really loving the flat response with no peaking so far. Also doing some things different from the previous shots.
So if using the Foot Lambert eye-ball formula, these may estimate to be around 20ftl..

I think we should rename this thread the official MP CRT screen shot thread as no one else has posted a shot other than Mike in 4-months..lol

Yeah, I used to wonder why I'm the only posting for awhile, but then I remembered how someone always seem to set rules for this thread, or suggest after all these years how they think the shots should be posted. And by this not being a real shootout thread, because it would be technically stupid to do so. It'll only make sense to post shots as something to do.
Me, I don't give a Rats tiny butt one way or the other....I think I'm addictive to shooting screenshots..

I think I finally figured out the best settings on this camera..
My last shots for a long time from the Marquee. It's time to pull out the G90 and tackle that "streaking" problem and further enhance what I've already done to the video chain. This is going to be fun getting back on this beast.
