Wolfman,

You have any other shots of popular movies I can compare my 8500 with? I am not into gore at all. Do you have Men in Black3? I took pictures of the SD DVD. Can we see how each compare.

MAk

Yes Wolfman bring it Very Happy

Be nice Greg and prod gently. That sounds kind of sick. Embarassed If he has MB3 it would be nice to compare the SD version.

MAk

Wolfman is more than able to hold his own and he likes a challenge Very Happy Nice shots Mak.

You are more than welcome to join in Greg. I am just an amateur hacking away and having some fun learning. My shots are from an old Canon A3400 camera. I set it on a tripod as Mike has suggested. Settings are for night pictures.

Yes, I have that and can take some tonight I guess, or tomorrow. Greg can do the same if he likes, i wouldn't mind at all, but Greg will have the edge if he did, I saw the last he posted and they look very nice and crisp.

I will use same settings as last time, I never used auto before but now I will always.

You may as well come out on top too MAK, with your new boards and better camera on so on, anyways, let's post some non gore action shall we! Smile

Wolfman,

I just like to see how the 8500 will compare to the LC machines color wise and detail. Sd to Bluray wont be to fair, so make sure we state what format we are working with. If I don't have it in Bluray I can go rent or buy it. Looking forward to this small event.

Thanks,

Mak

Been out.

Oh ok, I thought you had MIB3 on blu-ray as well. But it would be fun to see you post HD as well from whatever movie you might have at home.

I'll post my images in some hours from now I need it to darken some more.

I found a more tasteful image, with the old boards, and now she looks very nice and crisp.

Wait on your VIM. The neck boards you now have are not a good match for that 03 VIM you're using with it.

I respect your wishes on the matter and hold. But after the changes I think I will post some new ones for the hell of it. It would have served no purpose to buy all of these things and not be able to show it off.

It's fine to continue posting, just wanted you to know that you should be getting different results with the matching VIM.

Well that went nowhere, Greg! The bloddy thing needs to be hooked up to internet first to activate playing blu-rays.. unfreaking believable. I don't have one. And hooking up the PS4 with LAN straight from the wall socket didn't work and forces me to buy a router for this.

But it doesn't end there. Moome V3 has only one input working so must change cables every time. And then there's the oscillation.. so 60Hz is a no go.

Blue acts up in the same manner every time I turn it on.. first there is no image at all but just ants.. then it picks up a signal and less ants.. then it gets rid of the ants.. but all three channels remain in a oscillate state. It is watchable and screenable, but not acceptable. I must buy a digital TV to be able to use this.

Sometimes it sucks to be me! Smile

The PS4 needs to log on for the decryption key for your Bluray movies, otherwise it cannot open the files for playback. Redfox has taken over from where Slysoft stopped. If you use that you can play the DVD on several software renderers. Bottom line is you will still need to be connected to the net. Redfox will store any key on your PC once it has been decrypted.

TV/Projector: Marquee 9500 Ultra

Posted: Sat Jul 02, 2016 4:25 pm    Post subject:

Hi,

Finally found the lenses that work best with my setup (screen width is 90'', distance to the Marquee is 130'').
Tested several lenses and can't believe myself that the oldest and simplest one is the best:

HD10-GT17 (1995): Center focus OK, mid-zone focus OK, corner focus OK
HD10-GT17 (2000): Center focus great, mid-zone focus OK, corner focus OK
HD10-L (1996): Center focus OK, mid-zone focus poor, corner focus poor
HD10-L (2010): Center focus great, mid-zone focus poor, corner focus great
HD10 (1994): Center focus great, mid-zone focus great, corner focus great

Here are some screenshots of the current setup. Sources: Apple-TV (APT, 1080p60), Blu Ray (BR, 1080p60), HDTV (HDTV, 720p50).
Pictures were taken with an iPhone 6 on a tripod. Scaled down to 1200x900, no further modifications.
Some pictures look grainy and some show a greenish horizontal bar. These artifacts are only visible on the photos, not on the screen...

Regards,
barclay66

Great shots! But you really need to label them better to be able to follow the lenses in question. Keep it up though.
