This picture shows some heavy edge enhancement, or other kind of distortion, is that in the video chain, or some enhancement done to the screen shot.?

Look at the pics, its extreme around the white text on the picture i picked. And visible on the others.
As i wrote edge enhancement. Like ringing on a up scaled DVD on a bad scaler.
Wondering if its on the screen, or happens in the camera..?

If its in your video chain, you will for sure see it on screen. If its not there, it must happen in your camera or when you resize.
I would love to see the original picture file.

In other words, "your projector can't possibly look that good, you must be cheating somehow!!"
It's a title, and looks like it was burned into the original movie rather crudely / with older titling techniques. I don't think that distortion or peaking around a title like that means that there is any sort of artificial edge enhancement going on, I'm willing to bet it is in the source material that way.
If there really was that level of edge enhancement happening to be that obvious in the title, it would be much more obvious in the rest of the image as well. Of course, Strids' superior eyes can probably see all sorts of artificial enhancement going on that mine can't.

It could also be .jpg mosquito noise artifacts. It's likely a bit from several sources, I'll bet most of it's from the resize and .jpg

Hey man, no sharpening or any of that bull**** in my pics, and there are no artifacts or rimming or any of that bull**** in my chain or on the screen, these f*ck*** are super sharp and super bright and I'm finally happy enough not to look for anything that would distract me from the awesome image I have on screen.

The question was asked if it was due to the capture. I'm suggesting that the artifacts (mosquito noise) some (I) are seeing in that cap photo with the titles is likely because of the .jpg format and resizing in the bitmaps posted, not what your screen looks like to you. I'm sure your your camera doesn't doesn't do it justice.

There is at least two people from Australia on this forum cut from the same cloth. If you just read the posts its hard to tell them apart.

Hey dude, my comment wasn't directed at you
Now that you mention it though, I do notice a lot more artifacts and mosquito noise on the 909 than the 1209, do you think it's due to the massive screen I'm using or that the 909 is less forgiving of poor source material?
I have noticed though with great transfers the image is absolutely phenomenal.

So what's the best format to shoot in, raw or jpeg?

raw is always best but your camera should support it. I shoot with jpg too (cheap camera) but I have the option to export from my iphoto app in png and that is lossless. But in practise I do not see a difference with jpg. With jpg make sure you have some quality setting on max if there are any.

Switch to another version of the neck boards, that has a higher gain. I had to decrease the contrast from my previous setting of 75 down to 50 for this set. Have to look at my notes to understand why such a difference.
I like this set better, but would need to do something about the gain issue.
The following shots taking with me only decreasing the contrast after changing the boards.
