I agree Cliff. Though my XG-135LC was no "slouch" the G90 is really in a different league; Much brighter and sharper.
The downsides as you mentioned is the availabilitly or lack of replacement parts and this is a HUGE downside. I really hope this situation improves in the not too distant future.

It's nice to finally see some nice quality screenshots from the G90 on the net. Give's people an idea of what this bad boy can do.
Part's might be scarce, but when it's running, your in heaven.

With all due respect, the RS1 is the best digital I've seen to date.I was certainly impressed with what it had to offer however,It's just quite not there yet.I felt it lacked the depth that I've come to appreciate with CRT.Blacks.....Oh those darn blacks that crt offers are for me THE most important thing in video, the rs1 just aint there,almost...but not there just yet.
Some people will go on about how inky blacks arent that important, but I strongly disagree. Why? Because it's those inky blacks that give you that 3 dimensionality to the image which immerses me in a movie. That and the fact that the blacker the blacks are, the whiter the whites and it also adds to the rest of the colour pallete being more vibrant. So tell me HOW blacks are not that important?

Screenshots can say a lot...
Take the above Gladiator shots, they are originally 1080I material shown at 1080P, and are somewhat flat (but sharp). And 1080I HD is not the best for film @ 1080P (without proper deinterlacing), and that's why the later model 1080P digitals looks so much better.
Now with native 1080P film, there should be more depth and detail if at true native and full resolve. I don't have much HD-DVD material, so bare with seeing Kong once more. I took the following image in hopes of showing what happens with 1080P when properly resolved. When that happens, almost everything in the image should be clear and detailed. Which is not the case in the link to the shots from the RS1

Clarence,
can you do the two screenshots below. I want to see how well the background detail shows at 1080P?

Clarence, any chance I could get a copy of that demo disc? I would of course cover shipping and whatever costs involved.

G90:
Check out the bird cage and the bare light bulb next to it. Make sure you don't overexpose the cheek of the guy on the left. For shadow detail, check out the red shirt where by the vest button. And look at the radiator grill in the shadows behind Jack Black.
And in your Gladiator scene above, check his shoulder strap... that will clip if your camera settings are overexposed. And you'll lose the texture in the sand.

Ah, yet another screenshot with the famous "Clarence artifact". It's pretty funny when I happen upon some of those older screenshots in the AVS archives. I must admit, you've got the pose down.
