That ringing I'm really glad it's there, because it presents my next challenge.
I've seen it a many times, but never to that degree. So it's perfect for me to look at it and what's really causing it.
On the 02 VIM that's in there, I've changed how the vertical blanking works into the video chain. I found out during when working with that circuit, that I can make those lines worse with that circuit. I know for the most part, it's ringing from the horizontal sweep. But there's also something else to look at.
I'm going to put a folk in that one. It's the ONLY distortion on raster..

Woo Hoo... Check out what I've done to the focus circuit in my Marquee.

And before these changes, I thought I needed better lenses..

That is quite a difference Mike! Geometry is still a little squashed though.

That's probably true. Since I'm looking to replace the screen, I'm not likely to do much with the geometry until after that happens. I will tighten up on the focus a little since I've made the recent changes.

Now lets work on the next problem of the marquee, the damn ringing on the left side!!!!!

Do they all do that? I'm afraid that would drive me nuts. I have a tad bit of 4:3 burn in bright scenes...Makes me crazy.

Ahh...Ok...a NEC gets very squirrely with bad timings too…The main reason I use an HTPC.

Yep, and I think I'll do that today. This is the worse I've seen this ringing on any Marquee that had 07 or 08 version HDM's. The earlier version HDM's found in some 8000/9000 version Marquees had real problems with this.
It ws not obvious on my 8500 Ultra. It was also a direct hookup without a processor.
I'm glad it's there to that degree, It'll give me a good opportunity to look at it and see what's causing it, other than what should be normal.

I really do hope you find a solution for this. This problem is bugging me ever since I switched to the Marquee. I always thought this was somehow related to my video chain, so I'm kind of happy that other guys are seeing this as well

Menec one way to fix it with a VP is to make the back porch settings much larger and increase the over all total pixels to match the increase you added to the back porch. Also increase the sync timings and make sure they are over or at least very close to 1us or you'll get squiggly waves on vertical lines every few seconds. One other thing I have heard but not tried is to remove the chip carriers on the HDM daughter board and solder those re-moveable chip directly to the Board.
there are a few cap changes i plan to try on the HDM as well, increasing the value of C50 to a much larger value might also help out. I forgot what the value was but is like 5 times as much i believe. like 1200uf or so.

Unfortunately I don't have a VP. I directly connected my BluRay player through the HDFury1. I kind of got used to the fact that those lines are present on the screen, but if there is a working fix by modifying the HDM I would be happy to test it.
