Hmmm.... convex dome screen with lotsa coverage. Beware of soccer-ball hex/pent, or otherwise odd, pattern burn (if the tubes have run long enough at sufficient contrast.)

This is going to be a tough weekend...
Saturday: drive 1200 kms in total to pick up a Barco Graphics 1209s (3400 chassis hours) in France
Monday: drive 1500kms in total to pick up three P19LUG tubes (minty according to the seller) in Barco mountings in Switzerland
Wish me luck!

They do have this thing called the "Postal Service". Tubes can be packed well enough to survive the trip.
Curt sent me a NEC tube all the way around the world no problems.

Absolutely. But the seller didn't want to send the tubes and moreover, we want to see the 8 BarcoReality 909's in action! Last but not least: a road trip can be fun too. 8)

OK, went up at 4am this morning to drive to France. After a 6 hour drive (it's just below Paris, in fact I drove around Paris through the Périphérique). I arrived at 10.30 am, checked the PJ and put it in my (small) car:
As you can see, the former owner has a small TV/satellite shop in the back of his garden. He lives in a VERY small town. Reminds me of the shop of Curt Palme, sort of... (although I have never seen Curt's shop).
The tubes. I knew that Green had some uneven wear (simulator wear due to the soft edge board), but that's not a problem as I'm in the process of getting P19LUGs
The CRT compartiment:
Type sticker of the green tube. I don't know the P19LPB's that well (I thought that only P19LCP, P19LUG and PT22-22 tubes were used?). Anyone having more information?
The board compartiment:
Close up of the controller board.
The projector was fitted with HD-300 lenses (I'll see if I'll swap them for HD120's or GT17's, my screen is 80"). The chassis hours are 3350. Not bad... Even the case is in a VERY good shape. And of course, the remote is still included. The projector is dated June, 1999 and the stickers say that it is a BG1209s/E. So it is the latest version with the improved EHT. Software version is 7.22.
Tomorrow I'll need a good rest before I'll travel to Switzerland

You better take a LOT of pictures of that 909 setup!
Oh, and Congrats!

OK, you have something there in the controller area that I've never seen before. The main controller board is to the right of the pix. The square board next to the fan is the IRIS board. What the heck is the board that the IRIS plugs into? Above the fan?
Good score, you should be able to sell those original tubes. Good enough to use for someone that isn't picky.
BTW, that later EHT board has as many problems as the older ones IMHO. I've had a few fail, and haven't had that many through here.

The projector is fitted with the Convergence on Green option (I will rip that board out of it as soon as I can because it is useless in a HT environment with just one projector), SEMU (Soft Edge Modulation, I will rip that out too) and Contrast Modulation (that will be ditched too). I'm not familiar with these options but is it possible it is one of these? I cannot find a Barco R number on that board (maybe underneath).

Curt,
I got an answer from R.Bauer. It is the contrast modulation board... Have you never seen one?

No, not in any of the sets I've had here... Other CM boards on earlier sets were fitted to the back of the quad decoder or RGB switcher if I remember correctly, not the control board.
I really haven't had a lot of 1209s through here though, maybe 4 in total?

Actually. That's the SEMU board you see on the controller. Email me with a price for it. I'm interested in that one.

Yes the P19LPB03 series tubes are the high performance small apature tubes just like the LUG's. The guns are identical (and apature are the same size) between the LUG's and LPB's. Phosphor is the same unless noted on the G tube. The only exception that the LUG's have the addition of Grid 3 on pin 7 and the LPB's do not. The LPB' are a "white/white" gun and very desirable for high performance applications. I wouldn't hesitate to use LPB's in a HT application. You can also mix LPB's and LUG's without issue.

Odd, I love my convergence on green board in my HT enviornment. Great for that last 1% of tweeking. You couldn't tell the difference on video but for my HTPC desktop it makes all the difference. I wouldn't be with out it.

I'd rather not have the drift, thank you (yes, your projector drifts even more when using the COG option. It may be marginal, but it does).
