Is the higher pitched sound coming from the projector during white scenes normal? I have only ever seen my projectors up and running so I don't have anything to compare it to. It is kind of annoying in quiet bright scenes because the projector starts to scream...but otherwise I don't notice it...I am sure the hushbox will fix most of this.
TIA

What resolution? I've heard that on some PJs when really pushing them (1080p/60 on an 8"). Not sure if it indicates something is going wrong. Curt?

forgot to mention that I am also having a bit of difficulty getting the moome to recognize the hd-dvd player...I have to do a dance of turning things off and on and getting everything ready...about 10 min everytime!
When I am getting this all situated the projector constantly clicks and screams and clicks and screams like it can't sync with any signal...is that normal?? Not the moome part but the clicking and screaming...I need to take a video of it so you can know what I am saying.

I could hear a high-pitched "whine" during all white scenes (or when cranking up brightness and contrast) on my past ECP.

XG's and PG's change pitch with all white. The fans get faster on a PG Xtra for certain, I can't remember if an XG does that too. But the sound does change a little bit.

Greg, i am thinking of getting an 1100, what do you think about the pic it throws? Also, what is the noise level like, in general?
Thanx,
Colin

usually when I put either of my pjs at a higher resolution I can hear the current go higher, my fans stay consistent but the current is something you can hear asisde from them usually a low hum in my case.

Hmm.. Screaming? This isnt normal. You might get a small pitch difference from the HV but nothing like screaming at you. Doug

ok screaming is an exaggeration for a really high pitched frequencey sound. it isn't very loud but a noticeable difference can be detected on a bright white scene. I wish I had a way to record the sound...perhaps the memo recorder on my phone...let me try.
Can I upload a wav file?

Ok, I wanted to come back to this. I read something from Mark_A_W over at AVS about installing a 100 ohm resistor in line with the red LED on the deflection board to get rid of the whine...here it is..
| Quote: | If you add an 100 ohm resistor to the red lead to the deflection board fan on the XG, then the whine is knocked out of it and it sounds like any other CRT projector.
|
Is this hard to do, will this cure my noise that I described above? Or is this something different?

I used to hear a whine on my Marquee 8000 when I was running 1080p or some other overly high resolution, I've never heard it on my G70 though.

READ what I typed again.
I am talking about a red FAN LEAD. To slow the FAN.
Not a red LED on on the deflection board (WTF?), and nothing to do with deflection or HV noise.

Oops! I guess I just read whine and getting rid of it and wanted to see if it applied to here.
I don't know much about these things(obvious) so cut me some slack.
After I typed LED I did read that it was LEAD but wasn't sure about the whine comment. My fans don't whine at all they just woosh! lol
