Well I guess Graham is off on a bender again. And we thought we had finally got him cleaned up.
As disappointing as the lack of a response from Graham is, nothing can ruin my day today. After being down for 2 days, my G70 is back up and running. Life is good!

So we still don't know answer to this question?
My red tube just died from my BG1200.
It had few pops, flickering and had nice blue arc inside neck.
First I though that I dropped something inside pj, since I was just adjusting back end cards.
But when I looked to red tube I realized that tube was sucked glycol inside tube between bell/faceplate seam.
It seems that white goo doesn't tolerate glycol, good thinking Sony.
It's not bad idea to remove c elements and add good layer of silicone between front glass and lc chamber to these tubes.

Removed Barco sticker and Sony sticker says 09MI (R).
Projector and red neck card seem to be ok.

Just got new red 09MFX3 out of customs. It have 14 mm longer neck what 09MX and 09MI have. Other dimensions and pin out is same. Don't know yet if there is enough room in my BG1200...

It seems that BG1200 have enough room for 14 mm longer neck, I can even remove neck card without removing whole tube.

Ok this topic is OLD
Has Graham ever compared the tubes and pics in this topic
I've emailed him about 09MX tubes being ok for a Sony 1292 but I didn't get a reply
I guess that 2 cut pins are a problem, but the pinout of the 09MX and 09MFX3 seem to be the same.
That the 09MX is a bit shorter then a 09MFX3 is good news, but I doubt if the cut pins could be repaired and I don't know for sure if they are needed in a Sony 1292 ....
I'm still looking for a blue 09MFX3 tube.
André

I havent ever used the MX version. But I expect that if it is smaller it wont be able to be used as the deflection/astig coils wont be in the same position in both tubes.
I I have only ever substituted the MFX2 for the MFX3 with the LC chamber swapped
