Hi all, I tried searching but didn't see anything. I have a brand new Sony D50 and upon firing it up I get error code 37, which is for the fans. I can see them all spin up, briefly, before immediately stopping and the error code showing up. Preventing the projector from actually turning on. Any ideas? They all spin, then all turn off, and that's that.

You can't see the fan on top of the controller board, which is located on the same board as the RGB Inputs. Check that one.

With the cover off I can see that small fan spin as well, same story as the 3 big rear fans. Spins then stops. I'm guessing it's some technical error where the projector thinks one of them isn't spinning and powers everything down automatically. Just not sure if this is something an electronics store would need to tackle...

There is another fan in the PSU.
Not sure if it's connected to the fan detection though.
What you might can try is ordering something like this

It fakes a fan signal. So you disconnect the fans, put these in just to see if one of your fans is messing things up.
I had mixed results, sometimes they work, sometimes they don't.
This is not a longterm solution. Because you need the cooling.
Beware, the 3pins of the fan do not match the standard fan pins. For some reason sony decided to change the pwm sensor wire.
So you need to buy a few fan connectors, cut them and change the pin layout.
So you go from projector fan receiver > custom cut fan connector on one side(with pwm signal changed) > normal fan receiver on other side (with standard pwm signal location) > fake fan signal thing.
I had the same problem with custom fans, so what I did at one time, is take the signal of a good fan, and duplicate it to the other fan connectors. Sure it is 'risky' if one of them fails, the worst that can happen is that the projector turns off due to overheating one time.
