Hello,

I have a strange behaviour when I watch a Netflix movie through my OPPO 103 on my BG 1209s. The picture looks fine until some red flashes appear every 30 sec. Then the flashes come more often and finally I have a green dotted picture and some black screens (loosing sync ?).
My setup is a OPPO103-Radiance 2041-Cambridge Amp-Barco 1209s.
There is no problem watching Blurays or mkv HD movies from my OPPO. Why this is different with a Netflix movie?
Thanks for your help

That is possible indeed. I have a refresh rate of 72Hz on my Lumagen/Barco so if Netflix is 50Hz, it could be an issue.
I will try 75Hz.
Thanks

I would try 50Hz first. The 20xx series are not as good at 72Hz, 75Hz, and other higher clock settings. The XS, EX, and 21xx are much better suited to that I am afraid.

What do you mean by "better suited"? I am not expert, but at 72Hz, the picture looks great to me with the 2041.

Is Netflix played directly from the Oppo app or from an external device into the Oppo ?

The output chips on the 20xx series had some issues being clocked above 145 MHz at times. 1080p 72/75 is well above their threshold. 1080p 60/50 is inline with their specification. I would not use 72/75 until you figure out what the problem is because it's possible that is the actual problem.

I set it to 1080p60 (Netflix through OPPO is at 60Hz) and the issue is still there...
Could be related to HDCP ?

HDCP is usually snow or no image.

It's really very odd. Would you post a photo?

It has been worse and worse...
Now it is not only Netflix but mkv files and Blurays. The issue also appears sooner. After 1 hour.
It started with red flashes, then black flashes, green dotted pictures and then more black flashes (but longer). I even saw (a few times) the picture (size reduced by 10) and displayed in the left corner of the screen for a split second.
I tried to turn off the Barco, the Lumagen, the Cambridge Amp, it is ok during 2-3 minutes and then it started again. I change the bluray player, same issue. I tried to unplug the Lumagen for 2 minutes. No effect.
I have absolutely no idea what is going on. Is the issue with Netflix (first time I tried it on my HT system) at the start a coincidence or the cause of the issue?
I will try to record a short video to show you the issue.

If you post a photo we can at least determine if this is taking place in the digital versus the analog domain. A photo, or multiple photos are required. A short video may also be helpful.

I did few other tests and it seems that 50Hz videos (MKV or Netflix) show the issue. The Barco has been set to 1080p50hz.
If I find a 60Hz video, I will also try.
No issue for BR and MKV at 24Hz.
"Cable issue ?"
Well It should also be a problem at 72Hz I think.

"Can you swap your main HDMI cable end to end?"
Possible, but as it is very long and inside the wall, I will also need a spare that I do not have unfortunately

Here is a video showing the problem: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A5JW-Swa5Qc&feature=youtu.be

Here is a video showing the problem: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A5JW-Swa5Qc&feature=youtu.be

The video tells all. I am 100% sure that the problem is HDCP losing it's lock.

Most likely the info frame is not consistently making it all the way through your signal chain. That flash of "dots" is called "snow" and it is what a source sends when HDCP is dropped. Either get a better cable or get an HDCP stripper. I would suggest getting a better cable because this will improve your HDMI signal lock and also speed up sync times as well. The black screen is happening because the entire HDMI signal is resyncing. This could squarely indicate the cable is on the edge of stability.

I think the Ruipro cables are the best right now and reasonably priced (assuming the problem is the long cable to the projector). Amazon is the only authorized reseller in much of the world.

Based on this, the problem might be the HDMI cable connecting the Oppo to the Lumagen. My favorite HDMI interconnects right now are the Metra "Ethereal MHY" cables or the Monoprice "4K Certified Premium High Speed HDMI Cables." Both are inexpensive and work almost every time.
