I have a Sony 1292 (for about 15 years now), which has suddenly developed a blue tube problem: switching the Projector on, the blue tube illuminates permanently at very high brightness all across the raster, remaining that way without any external input signal and also remaining on even if I try to switch off the blue tube from the remote control (using blue cutoff with the R-G-B cut-off buttons). If I do input a blu ray signal (1080p 48) I can faintly see the input image superimposed on the high blue background. Red and Green look fine when I physically cover the blue tube output. Turning blue gain down all the way in the service menu makes only a tiny incremental difference. So blue is stuck at full on (and its pretty bright!)

Curt suggested this could be a video output board fault. What do you think and if you agree, anyone know where a spare might be sourced and whether replacement would be straightforward to do?
I'm not going to pursue this too much further - the projector has been truly fantastic over the years but there's not really expertise/resources here in the UK now and if its time to move on then so be it.

Thanks,
chris

I'd also try to swap the neckboards to see if that follows the problem. If it is the neckboard, then I most likely can repair it for you.

Thanks,
I thought (happy to be corrected) the 1292 neckboards are site-specific in shape and cant be swopped between tubes as they wont fit (I seem to remember a discussion on this with Graham Johnson ages back),

They might be different shape, but electrically they are the same. But your only chance here to try (at least put the blue board to any other tube)
