Today I was at the home of a friend of mine who owns a BG1209. I had never worked on this projector and I realized that it does not have continuous focus adjustment at the corners. Do I have to insert shims between tube and lenses?

I shimmed the lenses on my 10PG. I used some thin plastic between the lense and the C-element. It seemed to do the trick.

How do you know that you have to use them?

It been a very long time since I shimmed the lenses, but what I remember was, I was not able to get uniform focus. I first tried loosening the lens hold down screws and tweaking them, to see if that did anything. I then added a shim, paper first then I ended up with thicker plastic. Now of course, this is after I had everything set up correctly and double checked, before I started to look for alternatives.
