Hi again
This is probably going to sound dumb to all you with nice 9" sets, but I put 8" air coupled tubes into a 9500LC ultra chassis today.
I had a 2008 marquee 9500LC chassis with burned tubes and my old worn out 1995 marquee 8000 with clean 8" tubes. I cleaned all the boards in the 9500 and installed the tubes with the 8000 hardware. The neck boards in the 9500 were the VDC redesign, set up for LUG tubes. I switched the jumper to "B" and added the lead for G2 so the pinout works for the 180dmb22's. Everything powers up and looks good so far.
Question: Should I do anything about the spot kill on the new neck boards? Is it adjustable? The only pot I see is R64, but I don't know if that's it.
Also, I removed the astig boards, as only my red tube has a connector for it. Would it hurt to leave it in there but disconnected from any tubes?

no it wont but id put the astig magnets on the green tube as its the most important.
red focuses the best anyway.

There's no spot kill adjustment in any MArquee. If you are seeing the 'fireworks' show on a tube face at shutdown, then that tube has contamination, and short of replacing it, you can just ignore it. You may also see some flickering on the tube face when it should be perfectly black, that's also due to the contamination. Got your email re tubes, will respond shortly, as I was out of town until yesterday.

Oh ok. I'll do nothing then. I thought I read about a POT on the original design.. maybe it's not called a spot kill. Current limit? Ah well, I'll hold off until I get your email. There's no fireworks, just wanted to keep it safe if there was something I should change for 8" vs 9" tubes.
