A few years back a contractor told me about some flame retardent spray. Aparently you just spray down your raw lumber before building and that's all there is to it. I don't know if this makes the wood flame "proof" but he said it will delay the likelyhood of ignition from a heat source such as shorted wires.
Has anyone here heard of it or used it?

I just like to keep things retarded as much as possible. 
I want to be able to produce reciepts for flam retardent everything just incase they object to my upholstering the side walls and claim it's a fire hazzard.
I'm going to use 2x3's with insulation behind dark fabrick.Much like clarences walls but I'll have free standing pannels so I don't damage the 50+ year old plaster.
I'm carefull.
I'm covering my bases.

If you are going to upholster the side walls just buy some flame retardant material.
I purchased some Dazian fabric (for really cheap compared to GOM) and I think it looks great. It is NFPA 701 rated for fire resistance.

Ahhh I waas wondering about the flame retardent aspect of the material. JustGreg posted in another thread he used a flame retardent to soak his bedsheets to do his celing covering with.
I was thinking along the same lines for the side walls. However if it already has a fire rating all I have to do is test it.

I have done the test...
I put a lighter to some normal fabric that my wife was making hand bags out of and it sparked and sizzled and burned really quickly and continued to burn when I took the lighter away.
I then put the lighter to similar sized sample of the Dazian cloth. It melted when in direct contact with the flame but when it was pulled away it stopped immediately.
This stuff was 4.95/yard and looks pretty darn good too!
I would recommend getting a sample from Dazian.com
just look up expo cloth
