Well Guess what? Same projector blew another quad, 6 in total now, I have a feeling there is something else causing the quads to blow, I have heaps of boards, what should I replace?
BTW I noticed a slightly burnt smell this morning when I fired them up, looked inside but saw nothing, a few hours later lost pic.
Getting sick of this thing Neutral

Dave

Well the quad is working together closely with the EHT board, so that is the first suspect, but I guess you already changed it...

Well the EHT system on the barco is pretty much isolated from the other parts since it runs directly off the mains voltage, and since the tubes are the last thing which you did not change yet, so perhaps it's time. Your tubes are served a lot, perhaps one of them loads too much the EHT system which kill your quads with time.
BTW did you compare the quad's temperature in the ill machine with the other machine's?

Well something interesting just happened. I opened the case to check the fuse on the eht, but I turned on the machine and I have HV. I left the machine on for an hour with no issue, so I decided to close the lid and as soon as I did I lost pic to tubes. Open the lid and turned machine on and have pic again.
Now I do have an 808 quad in the 909 which the focus coil is taped up with electrical tape, that focus lead is just dangling and sits on the case as I close it, is it possible that maybe there is arching even though Ive taped the crap out of it? If there was arching Id hear it, no ?

On my 908 I have cables tied it to the centre fan. This keeps it away from the chassis and lid.
I can send you a picture if you need.

Thanks Greg will tie it away from chassis. I hope this is the issue.

That's a EHT feedback lead? If you only taped it then it's probably your problem. Bend the ending of the cable just 1,5cm put shrink sleeve over it and shrink it. Then put another 2 or 3 shrink sleeves over it, so it will be very well isolated.

Nah I've been doing it this way for a few years now with no issues, its bloody cocooned in electrical tape Mr. Green

BTW
Took a screen shot from my phone with one 909 running compared to a JVC HD750 AKA RS20
Dunno why colours look odd but it was taken from my phone.
