Small but significant update: The "difficult" situation regarding negotiating with VDC in Georgia has been completely bypassed.
I'm now in direct contact with the President of the company that actually receives the tubes and turns them into scrap glass for
recycling.
As of right now they have started picking out the best tubes to save for us rather than bust 'em all up. The hammer still swings,
but on a far more selective basis.
So in principle the buy looks like it can happen. In practice, tube availability (types and quantities) has not yet been determined,
but at least I'm in direct contact with the actual source and they're FRIENDLY!
Incidentally, no, it is not true that VDC is currently offering any REBUILT tubes. New manufacture only. The manufacturer(s) expect to be making tubes for a few more years to come. Up to ten years, so they say.
If this restart works, tubes coming in may be any of four types: P19LCP, P19LUG, P19LPB, and P19LQFs. Any are usable, and I will attempt to save as many from the hammer as possible.
Every attempt will be made to get tubes of the type that you specify. Substitutions may be necessary but we'll try for the exact type within the limits of available stock.
If you want any other specific types, please DO indicate what types you are after and I will ensure that this information is added
to the list of tubes for them to screen for.

I will ask. Specific type designations would be helpful.

Where is this "hammer" located? I can have some fun with my AR.

I am waiting to hear back on an inventory check with this company. If they have some good tubes I will be making a deal for a few (a test run, more or less) and see how it goes. IF that works out as I hope, then we're going to set up an arrangement where they set aside suitably good tubes for me, notify me when they have a worthwhile shipment to send out, and then I'll get them.
Like before, I will (not yet but hopefully soon) ask you to post your tube requests.

Currently my source has no usable tubes. They will be getting more. Patience is required.

I must advise you that due to the law of supply and demand, and a rapidly dwindling stock of good condition used tubes, I will
not be able to guarantee previous pricing levels. My source is aware of the price of new tubes, which ARE still available,
and seems to be inclined to ask more for tubes that are good enough for our needs than I had originally planned for.
I will do what I can to keep prices reasonable but it's all a moot point if there aren't any tubes to sell.
I do have the option to sell anybody some brand NEW tubes, though. But the price is of course considerably higher, and honestly
I do not expect to be making many sales on tubes at a price of 1250 dollars each. However they will have a warranty as new product.

How does warranty work if there is a supply and demand issue?

Who said anything about a warranty on USED tubes?
I pre-test any tube I'll sell. If it doesn't work or perform according to my description, I won't sell it.
If you want it insured for shipping purposes, you pay the insurance.
That's as far as any reasonable person is going to go with that.
