Background: I am trying to fix a barco 1209s I did several tests with cards from projectors in perfect working order.

The fact:

1) If i use whatever Mag.focus & Horz. shift last version R7622715 i have here, the projector power up and everithing seems ok but i can't get menu

2) if i use older version from 1209 i finally get menu' but as you can expect..... focus at edge is poor and most of geometry (bow, keystone, H-linearity) doesn't work, convergenze works only in the center e nothing move on all other areas.

After many combinations of cards i can exclude: controller and software version, convergence tray, Horz e vertical, smps.

Assuming it should work with last version R7622715.... why it doesn't ? your opinion?

It's possible that the software isn't compatible. Generally speaking a '5' card (last digit of the part number), SHOULD work in an older set, but sometimes they do not. The '5' usually means a firmware or minor production change, not a complete module change, but that's not always a perfect rule.

there is a geometry signal that comes off the H shift/focus board that drives the convergence and pin/key functions, and it sounds like that signal (and a focus problem) is within that focus board. Maybe a pin isn't sitting properly in the module contacts?

I tested two of these R762271.5 cards and they works well on their set. The funny thing is the one of this board has same part number of all boards i have in the set with the issue. It work in the other set, but not in this one. All 3 set are R9200972 chassis.

Otherwise if i put the old 1209 R762271 in other set i get convergence full working. The same don't work well in the set with the issue.

Tested with 7.21 and 7.23 software and it does not make any difference.

I assume all Mag.focus & Horz. shift works, but when i put them in the set with the issue they behave as below:

.5 (no menu)

standard (menu but problems in geometry and focus)

??

Sorry, no idea other than the firmware may not be the right one. I have tried swapping firmware chips before in several Barco models, with all sorts of problems, which is why I don't do it and always keep them stock.

If i remeber this set coming from a 90° tube setup and FW chip on controller is not original (now is v 7.21 ID798). Anyway using a different controller with original V 7.23 ID834 doesn't solve issue.

All boards on these set have same part number of the chassis except (tubes, jokes and neck cards). I just noticed Covergence driver module P/N is just one number more than others. Problay comes from a twin projector of previous installation. So exepct it doesn't make difference.

With his original R762271.5 i can't access to menu!!
With an older 1209 R762271 i have menù but not convergence (moves just only in the center), H Linearity and R/L/TOP/BOTTOM geometry adjustments. V Linearity is ok!

I'll continue tests and and we will see what can be the cause.

If someone has ideas or have experienced something like that let me know.

Taken these cards set all coming from the set with the issue and moved into a perfect working one.

Mag.focus & Horz. shift (.5)
Horizontal Deflection
Sync & Vertical Deflection
Convergence tray complete
Controller with 7.21

These cards works smooth on the other set and don't show any issue.

What could interact with these perfect working boards ( Mag.focus & Horz. shift (.5) in particular) and creating the issue?

So what you suggest ?
