I purchased a used projector with less than 1500 hours. The tubes look pristine. In fact everything does. Last night trying to converge it to a genlocked source it quickly became apparent that there was a problem with the red tube alignment. After trying many "easy" approaches I discovered that the screws on the "TOP" (under the power supply/ceiling mounted) were in fact loose!!! (screws which mount tube to heat sink) The lower screw are easy to access. The top ones not so much. Is there a way to access these fasteners without disassembling the entire chassis? Interestingly enough, were the set floor mounted gravity would keep the lens in the proper orientation disguising the problem.

I typically leave those bottom (top) ones loose because they are so hard to get to. A 1/4" extension on a socket set will get to them, but you do risk losing the socket in the set, as it's tight at the top. You can always fish it out, but it's a PITA.

If the top ones (bottom) are tight, then the tube won't move, and convergence should not drift.

if you're trying to shift the red image vertically, that adjustment is under 'raster shift' in the geometry menu. Not sure why Barco did it that way, it's only the 70X series that they do this in (a Runco 940 is a Barco 708), but they did.

Curt.., the Blue & Green tubes appear to be tight. The Red tube is "very" (1/16th to 1/8th) loose and gravity is causing the image to rise out of the range of electronic adjustment...

OK, then use a socket extension to get down there. Are you sure the lens isn't cracked? If it gets hit, and one or two mounting points crack, the lens will shift while the CRT tube frame remains solidly in place. I've seen that happen a lot with the HD145 lenses.

Not precisely certain we're even talking about the same fasteners. I cant even SEE them, let alone get on them with a socket & extension with all of obstructions. I was hoping you'd say that removing the power supply would allow me access. Everything on the lenses appears in good order. They were all removed to modify the schiemflug(sp) ring settings to the center position and then re-focused...

They are the same size bolts as on the top (bottom) of the lens bracket assembly. There are holes between the tube frames where you can look down (up), and see them.
