hello all,
Been rather busy lately and not much time to play with the projectors.
I got an Optoma EP 729 I want to set up for the kids but it shows the bulb as dead.
It turns on the fan comes on and then after a while the projector turns off and the dead lamp light comes on.
I have verified that the rest of the projector works by pulling the bulb and shining a LED flashlight through the opening.
The picture is there and it switches sources etc. with no problem.
I ordered and received a new lamp with housing but when I swapped it in the same thing happens. Sad
I guess the new lamp could be dead but before I send it back and get stuck with possibly paying shipping I was wondering if there is any thing else to check.

any help appreciated.

It's probably the lamp ballast. It's a pretty common failure in digital projectors. No clue what to do for testing or replacement, but just relating what I've read in a number of digital projector threads.

I was afraid of that.
Looks like I might have to have a go at replacing the lamp with an LED.
