I have a pg6xtra and during the summer it has a lot of green video fluctuation.

During the winter it plays fine, so it would seem the heat of my room affects something.

Question: would it something better found in the video circuitry or in the driver board on the neck
of the tube?

I'm tempted to switch tube boards of another color just as a test.

Try swapping neck boards, otherwise I'd suspect leaking caps on a video board.

What is the source? I had that issue with my 9PG using composite and s-video, and it was bad capacitors causing all sorts of issues.
