Hmmm, according to the datasheet, no, it wont work. Problem with pin locations. That is surprising. LM7915CT should be correct.

anything else we can test or is this the culprit on this board? because this is a damn shame if its just this, the part costs 30 cents, the costs to get it here are 4 euros lol Razz rather order some more parts.

Well the only other supply we did not test on that vert board is the -9v. But that requires soldering a wire on the board cause there is no TP. It is up to you.

Oh, we should also check for a short on that -15v line. You have to remove ic21. Then set DMM on diode scale and measure across the solder points on the board where pins 1 and 3 were. Test both ways and give me the 2 readings.

soldering a wire is no problem. better to test it or dop you think its unlikely? i have no short on the -9v line though.

Might as well check 1+2. 2+1, 3+2, 2+3

That all looks fine. If you want to solder that wire on and check the -9v, look for C73 on the vert board. Solder a wire to the NEG. side of it. Then install it, DMM on DC voltage, neg probe on chassis, start it up and check for proper voltage on wire. Let me know what you get.

cannot find c73, lets leave it for now as i have found no errors in the -9v line as of yet.
should i order and replace that regulator? then test again?

No problem. Yes, order part and replace. After startup do a 30 code again. no sweep and G2 low should be gone. Clamp will probably still be there. If all still ok then do a "1" "test" and see if you get grid.

Guess what?
I got me a grid on all three tubes!
Now: what is a normal contrast setting? If I set it to 50 the room needs to be completely dark.
All tubes are set up to make maximum use of phosphor area.
I'll order a vga to bnc cable next to test video input.
Can't move this beast on my own and it's in a room which is unusable for testing as I don't have enough space.
Will have to move it to the living room.

Nashou,

What do you run your ampro at in terms of brightness and contrast.
I just tested the astig, it's as perfect as it can be.
It really seems this pj was used for 4 days according to the counter.
Lol

What I do wonder is which moron decided that repairing the vert board with a - 5v regulator in stead of a - 15v one was a good idea.
That is what probably destroyed the other components I replaced.

I ended up replacing:

1 tantal elc
1 - 12v reg
2 75k ohm resistors
1 - 15v reg

It depends on the room setting, dark, bright, ambient. But i never set mine up Wink

I will one day. But its best to set it up so you just barely see the raster light up
around the Grid then back it off till its not there.

that is just for now, later you will need to use patterns and adjust the G2 in a similar fashion the go back to brightness.

On the remote, press and hold each of the 3 color buttons until each one says "off".
Look into each lens and turn up corresponding G2 control until you just see a full raster then back it off until it just disappears. Do all 3 and let me know how you made out.

Set main contrast at 80 and main brightness at 50.
