I actually like your line of thinking, although I have put everything back in their respective machines, i might just try it again, I may have misinterpreted what I was looking at (although I don't think so) but the idea has merit to give it another test, I am finding it difficult to keep up with the flow of ideas and suggestions (mainly my limited knowledge) it takes time to absorb and actually understand what is being suggested, and why, when I get that under my belt I feel much more comfortable tackling the ideas at hand, but it is a great learning curve !!

I would say the 808 yokes will be shorter, allowing the active part to fit further up the neck where it is meant to be.

Hey Trevor

I have been at this for 8 years and still learning stuff it just different stuff to what you are learning. As Case says we won't ask you to do anything we haven't. The important thing is you are prepared to get in there and try. Thumbs Up

The actual physical length of both the deflection and focus yokes are exactly the same

ie: the deflection yoke is 95mm from front to back

the focus yoke is 70mm from front to back

That is interesting... Thats including the fastening clamps?

So how do tube lengths compare between the P16LNPs and the 180DMB22s?

No Case, thats just the main body of the units
The defection yoke from front flange to the end of the rear clamp is 105mm

and the measurement of the focus yoke is 90mm from front locking ring to the end of the rear clamp

So the necks are 20mm shorter? That would account for it...

Best to measure neck length, this will give a better idea on whether the tube is too short and the focus yoke is too far back.

Can you post pics of the focus yokes so i can see their design?

I figure if you can get the focus yokes ~10mm further forward, this issue will be solved. This will likely require a physical mod to the focus yoke housing.

It may be just me, or just the image angle, but looking at my P16LJE here:

The bell angle looks abit different on yours, mine seems to be much more shallow, where as yours looks quite abit deeper, more like a Sony tube or a 180DMB22... I havent seen a P16 that had a deeper looking bell angle like that before...

Its probably nothing...

Removing that front ring and the flange should get you there, but wait for someone else to give the nod on that Wink
