Gary they are probably so popular due to their extreme accuracy, if calibrated properly there are generally dead accurate in a reasonably realistic manner, the newer style guns ( like the Wii used as well ) are almost all terrible if you move at all.

The CRT thing is huge in the arcade and retro gaming world, games in standard definitions look f***en s**t house on digital displays compared to CRTs.

Well i got the gun today, works perfectly in Windows desktop and in MAME, but it wont work in Daphne Singe, so i cant play my laserdisc games with it...

Worked perfectly on Lethal Enforcers, but i own the original arcade machine and proper arcade guns for that, which easily beats the emulator...

Damn! Have you tried running the LD game through a line doubler? Maybe that gun needs a higher refresh scan rate.

You cant use processors of any sort with light guns, they cant work with any frame delay.

I tried it from 800x600 at 75 and 85 Hz right up to 1280x1024 at 60Hz, same results on both Windows desktop and in game.

See the way it works is just like a touch screen, shooting the screen gives Windows the exact same info as touching it does, i can get the calibration close to perfect there, but the ALG shooters dont support the light gun that works this way, only the tracking style that works the same as a standard mouse.

If i run the game in a window the gun does work in the ALG shooters.

Still a couple more things to test yet.
