So, that's what comes up! Version 6.1
Tubes look 100% unused, but the hour meters are in the 20-30 THOUSAND hours...
The projectorlooks unmolested.
Mfg. January of 2008.
Is this an unused projector???
It came to me on a pallet of 5, the others vastly used and essentially crushed...

Dust on the fan blades are usually a good indicator of use. Otherwise if the tubes look good and they have good emission I wound't care about chassis hours, it's not even that old anyway.

Check what kind of tubes it have, if its PT22 tubes its no good.
And what kind of lenses are those.? GT17, or HD10E.?

Curt, you sure you've got these? My other three are not SIM machines... 09 part number...
No... All are HD-10L...
So, is the LUG a better tube? And is the "43" the fast response phosphor?

LUG are nice, not sure if those neckboards are made for LUG tubes, normal neckboards need a mod to run with LUG tubes.
And no 43 is not fast phosphor, be happy about that.
Are they all LUG tubes.?

Was it not you that had the diagram of those and told it had 7 peakings on those VNB.? |
Yes, it was a response to your statement that everything is better without peaking, I was to show that the right ammount of peaking is inevitable for the good performance...
When this board was new, Mike Parker checked these boards briefly at VDC and he said that these boards are masterpieces and tuned for perfection, these VNBs need a special matching VIM (because the clamping was removed from the VNB).

Errr... sorry... I'm a hardware junkie and these projectors are up there on my list of SUPER COOL. Digital is too easy... These things are moving electron beams around in the analog domain. That's magical mysterious "Black Arts" in my world.
The VIM is really modified!

Thats a 02VIM with peaking trimpots and vertical line mod who should be removed for a decent black level performance.
My 2004 VIM is just like that one, or at least it was.

As you can see it is a "peaking cap" -02p, with modifications, not a big deal, but still not compatible with the plain VIMs.
Scott (aka. tse) designed the new board, the output transistors are not better than the original Motorolas (~700 vs. ~1000MHz) but the driver transistors are significantly better (2,2GHz vs. 1,3GHz) and that matters more.

Im not sure your right about the VIM, it looks very much like a standard 02VIM with the standard factory mods, who all the late 02VIM have.
Someone should try it out.
