Hello

You would want to go with that particular screen manufacturer's recommendations for cleaning a particular surface material; I doubt that one cleaning method works with every screen.

Stewart say that if you must clean the screen that you should use Simple Green. It is not however recommended that the screen be cleaned unless it is very dirty. Most of the time screens only need to be spot cleaned (if at all). I have used Simple Green to spot clean many screens with great results and no damage. You should pat the screen with a microfiber; do not scrub.

Stewart also recommends "Goof Off" for spot cleaning very stubborn stains. I have used this with variable success because the "Goof Off" will liquefy the coatings on Stewart screens. Use "Goof Off" very lightly and carefully and use it with a q-tip. Just dab the q-tip on the stain. If you work very quickly and do not over do it, you can get good results. If you spend to much time on one spot (seconds) than you will totally remove the coating. Also, no matter how quickly you work with "Goof Off" the spot you clean will always then be lighter in color than the rest of the screen and will be more or less reflective (bright) after the cleaning. If you decide to try "Goof Off" just know that the cleaner its self will damage the screen to some extent so the dirt you are trying to remove has to be bad to consider this method.

I recently used "Goof Off" on a Stewart 2.0 gain screen that had a dark line right in the center of the screen where something fell and dragged along it. The screen also had black paint dots vertically along one side where the snaps were pressed into the screen when it was rolled up. On this particular screen it was considered trash so I wasn't worried. I got really good results and you could only see the damage on paused images if you looked really hard.

If your referring to the tubes screens then I used rubbing alcohol to clean them if needed

I clean the screen the the projector throws the pic on if needed(rarely despite me living on a dusty road)
