Hi Guys,
I tried 1080i@96 and I get a small out of horizontal sync picture on the screen. I think I have a sync processing fault.
I have a spare Wave and OSC board that I will try. I also have a HD board. Does anyone know if there is sync processing done on this board? If one of these don't fix the problem I will need to hit Curt up for a system board or just stick with 60hz.
Does anyone have an electronic circuit diagram for an XG?
Thanks,
Greg

OSC and SYSTEM boards playing role in sync processing, but there are sync related circuits on GAIN CTL board as well.

I've never had an issue with my XG sync'ing up with signals, and I've thrown some real odd ones at it. As Case says, it seems to accept whatever I throw at it.

When I got the projector the Green tube arced from the high voltage cap on the tube a few times. Probably moisture. Its damaged something in the sync circuit.

This is the 96Hz interlaced timings by kschmit2. I think he did it with an XG, i run it on my plain 9PG, works well.

I have changed the oscillator board but still no go. Next step is to buy a system board. I hope Curt has one.
Its strange that it locks to 720p 1080i and 1080p but only at 60hz. There must be switching for different refresh rates on the system board. Does anyone have a circuit of an XG system board?
Thanks,
Greg

Hi Guys,
I just changed all boards in the cage with the boards out of a XG135 I picked up for spares, and the thing still turnes off. Swapped out the H deflection board and it now stays on no matter what signal I put into it. Running 1080i at 72 still gives me a dark picture with black bars across the screen. 96 has no horizontal lock. 60 still works fine. Next I change the HV board and no change. The only boards I have not changed are the ones under the Tubes and the power supply. Next I pulled it down and put the good tubes into a XG135 I pick up as spares.
Lifted it back up and did a full alignment. Switched the VP50 to 72 and the same problem and 96 has no lock same as the other projector. I swapped the VP50 for a VP30 and still no change. Could the HDMI lead cause this problem?
Thanks,
Greg,

PS,
I put an 08 tube in the XG135 in place of the 07 and it works fine. No mod needed.

Do you have a chance to try these resolutions with a PC and an RGB cable?

Thanks for the reply,
After all that stuffing around there is something wrong with the Moome EXT-FULLHD V3. Maybe I have a jumper in the wrong place. Put the old HD fury 1 on and 72 works well. I have a Moome DVI card so I will try that next. Will the old Moome DVI card do 1080i@96?
Thanks,
Greg

It should do it, it uses a single link DVI reciever, so the maximum pixel clock is limited to 165MHz, 1080i96Hz is around 130MHz.
Rumors says the Moome DVI is better than a HDF1, give it a try.
BTW the spare XG135 is a non LC model?

Greg, the 08 tube works in your sets for the same reason allready stated by Gábor in another thread. My set is a 2 series, and yours are 0 series. 08 tubes wont work in a 2 series set without a mod, and 06/07 tubes are better and sharper anyway.

The MOOME V3 box has an image shift feature, either reset it or turn it off, thatll likely be the cause for your very dim image.

In theory at least Smile Just yesterday I was reviewing screen shots from my PG xtra, and it seems that was sharper than the XG is now (adjusted focus and astig two days ago...) -it must be the lenses, though.

Case the XG now has 07 red 08 green and 07 blue all mint with no wear. Focus on the red and green is very close to each other. The difference must be minimal.

The XG135 is AC. If I can strip the tubes with out breaking them I might convert it to LC.

Looks like the Moome EXT-FULLHD V3 is faulty. None of the jumpers will change the sync. Also Gamma and contrast have no affect.

I told you what to try with the MOOME!! Its not jumpers, and not gamma or contrast...

And regardless of what youre seeing there between 08s and 07s, there is a difference, Mark AW is very adimant about it and if anyone knows itll be him. Im not prepared to modify and downgrade my 2 series machine to do any testing.

The fact youre getting simular focus on two different tubes means very little, who did the astig? Who did the focus? How was it done? With what was it tested?

I was only saying that XG135 or XG750 with 07 tubes, 08 tubes will work fine. No obvious difference, To me anyway. If I need test equipment to see this difference than does it really matter. There is always at least 3 opinions to every discussion, Yours, Mine and the fly's on the wall. The 07 08 tube discussion seems to be a very touchy subject so I wont go there anymore.Smile

As for the Moome I have made sure the shift is of and done a reset. I also tried turning it on and using the left and right shift and still no luck. Been through the manual step by step. The fact that I cant change the polarity of the sync by moving jumpers and the controls don't do anything as described in the manual tells me something is wrong with it.
