Haha, 4:3 within that 16:9 wear pattern? I'd be using, what, 15% of the tube surface? =D

Thats quite a bit of wear there. I'm sorry but I have to disagree with everyone whose posted so far, that is a HORRIBLE image being projected from those tubes. The sharpness is great and all, but the color is putrid, and even if ran within the wear pattern, kiss those pretty blues goodbye.
If you run it within the wear pattern over a period of time, you'll probably get used to it and not notice it much, but anytime you look at a display that has normal color, it will probably bother you.
The green tube in my XG cracked a year after I got it, I was lucky to get a replacement from the guy I purchased it from, but the replacement had wear as bad as your tubes. When I installed it and threw an image out of it, the color was so off it just made using the projector unbearable. I had let the projector sit until someone parted out their projector and I purchased all of the tubes from it so I would have spares.
Mac and the others are right about one thing, it would still be a great PJ to learn how to setup and configure, and get familiar with. The XG series is TOTL and worth the time to retube it if you find some new tubes. The PQ will be night and day with some new whites

Also your PJ does have one BIG thing going for it…
… it WORKS, it has no problems from what I can see other than worn tubes, so you are lucky in that sense. Don't be discouraged by worn tubes, there WILL be others available, maybe not right away, but they do crop up here and there.

As i allready said, i have some considerably better tubes, and i will even fit them for you.
I have 3 greens, with the one pictured on the previous page being by far the worst.
I have 2 reds, one perfect and one fair.
Ive got one blue with little to no wear.
All are mounted in AC chambers with good clean glycol and have been properly bled to relieve pressure.
Macgyver is correct in all he says, he always is, there is no reason you cant do what he has stated. You really need to learn to set it up properly too, there is no room for half arse setups with such a machine, that is what f***ed the tubes in the first place.

Case, I think I missed one of your previous posts and misunderstood the rest of them, my apologies. ^_^
I think I might take you up on your offer, so long as you promise not to criticize my temporary ghettoscreen.

Not as ghetto as my taped together printer paper screen I first used. That was a task keeping them all perfectly aligned with each other!

See what happens when you say "Lets just test this for a second to see how it looks before I do a proper set up"

No mate, this is what happens when youre building your home and you have a mate like Al that has a forklift and another 9PG, as well as a desire to relive former NEO-GEO glory

Man, I could use a little of that Neo Geo glory.
That's eight neo consoles leaning against a tree after the 2011 floods.

Hope you didnt throw those out!! I remember seeing some of the other pics back then of boxed items covered in mud etc.
When time permits, we may have to get you up here for a NEO session, Al and i have been playing games like Fatal Fury Special and Soccer Brawl since around 1993, amongst others.
In those days, it was beyond ritual status to come home from school and complete NAM. It was considered by us both to be MANDATORY.

I threw most of it out, yeah. Nowhere to store it, no time to decide what to keep, and no significant interest in a giant collection of hardware that doesn't work right after being under all that caustic mud.
My Neo collection is pretty small these days, I've got Last Blade, Metal Slug 3, Samurai Shodown 1-4, Pulstar and... A half dozen CD games. I'm big on the Metal Slugs, and you'll never beat me at Magical Drop 3.
I'll bring my custom sticks. =D

The thing is no water or mud gets inside the components, so any malfunction is caused by bad connections between boards and/or the remaining particles causing some high impedance conduction. So if you let them dry out before powering up, and clean the boards/connectors it's 99% sure they would work just fine after that.

Gábor while i do agree, i was involved with the cleanup of that flood in another area that was hit a day or so prior ( Helidon ), and the authorities were firmly instructing people to dispose of flood affected items due to the potential presence of harmful substances in the flood waters.

That's true, but as I say, there was no time. Crews were coming to haul my crap to the curb, and if I wanted to keep it I'd have to put the sodden rubbish in my beautiful clean car and haul it to dad's place until I found the time to deal with it. Life's too short.
I kept some critical stuff, but who really needs 8 NeoGeos? There's only a few things I miss, like that NeXT Cube and my Atari TT030, and maybe one of the SuperGrafx... And I gotta say, moving house with ~40 fewer boxes of games? Liberating. =D
