I have a few boards left for the ECP that you can have for next to nothing. Post the 50-XXXX-XX part numbers of all the boards in the card cage at the back, and I'll see what I have. I am out of town as of Sat for 10 days though, so I might not get to it until I get back. Otherwise, emailing me is the best option via the website here.

Sorry, I've been away from the forum since February (and that time was 1st time in months) or would have replied long ago. Did Curt have a board for you?
IF Curt didn't have one to sell you AND you want to try a different board, let me know and I'll send one of mine to you to try for the big price of free + shipping. If my spreadsheet is correct, I have (3) of those boards now plus another from a 4100 with different # from the others. There may be a fifth one. Call me a hoarder and there will be no ECP parts soup for you!
I feel your pain. My ECP 4500 fails to auto h sync on a seasonal basis. That is, when it is cold outside it takes until after the PJ has warmed up for a while (~30mins) for auto hsync to work. You see, my ECP is on the ceiling in a cold basement -- down to about 58deg F in the winter. In the summer, it doesn't do this at all and temps are maybe 71-74 deg F most of the time. If I switchover to manual mode for h sync and up/down to the right spot, it syncs and all is well. Sounds like your problem is a bit different, but perhaps these are related somehow? Is yours in an always cool basement?
Someone else on here had a similar experience to me (I can't find that thread), but never posted a resolution. I've lived with it b/c of time and priorities. Curt sent me a replacement, but swapping it didn't do the trick. Note that Curt has said these boards are not all interchangeable in ECPs, but I don't know if the 50-xxxx-xx # tells enough info or not. My original one was:
1871-09P ISS1
41-97
03-270004-04P ISS1
Curt sent me the identical board -- 1871-09P Iss1. (It is in machine and I didn't note date and rev info)
My spreadsheet says the early board I have from a 4100 is:
1871-09P Iss1
09-92
02-270005-xxP Iss3
bests,
Matt

Blur:
There is a novel idea: following the service manual. I've probably spent 3X longer than the repair would take working around the problem...dumb!
Luckily, I did score an extender board a while ago by trading a power supply. I think your experience justifies pressing it into service post-haste. BTW, Barclay has shown how to make a homemade extender for the marquees using connector pins, test board, ribbon cable, and some potting compound to hold things together. This could be done for an ECP I feel certain. IIRC, he wanted to hold onto his ECP extender for reasons I can't recall. Oh wait, on this site none of us need any stinkin' reasons to hold onto things! I might be dreaming that, though.
I've been hording acquiring 4500 parts, too...the "club" of us poor little ECP users is shrinking monthly. Every time Curt has started phasing out his support of older machines though, it seems more of us come out of the woodwork.
Bests,
Matt

Well, not quite accurate. If someone pays me, I'll repair a 50 year old CRT board. The problem is, no one wants to.

Well, yes and no.
Yes: You can make some of Your own if You get the right connectors, boards, cables etc. I found it quite easy to do although it takes a lot of time (192 x removing insulation from cable ends and 192 soldering points). It took me about 2-3 hours.
BTW, the potting is hot glue.
No: I can't hold onto any ECP extender as I don't have any. Mine are for the Marquee module bay (e.g. CLM and VIM) and I don't know if they would work in an ECP. I had the extender board and cable set for the Barco 800 series, but I gave it away when I sold my BG 801s.

My bad, barclay. I drafted my post thinking it was Nashou who both got the ECP extender AND made the adapter. When I dug up the thread to link it, I saw my memory on who made the extender was incorrect. While I fixed my draft to give you credit for the homemade Marquee extender, I neglected to make it clear it was Nashou who had (at one point) the ECP extender. Sorry for the confusion.

No Problem. I just wanted to avoid the crowd yelling for something I don't even have...

Hello
Time to scrap the ECP doncha think? There should be a functional M8500 around for a few hundred bucks and when that gets weak you can drop in some nine inch tubes
