9500
With focus at 100 , trying to make fuzzy circles as round as possible: in some zones the best I can get is fuzzy triangles
???

Not unusual. Does that tube have 2, 4 or 6 pole astig magnets on the tube neck?

These tubes have 3 rings with knobs. I've read over the setup a few times and it sort of makes sense but I really don't want to open that can of worms if I don't have to. I know it has to be part of the procedure for a retubing and I'm sure you've done it over and over.
A little more detail maybe?

Hello
The middle knob is triangle correction, with focus at 100 just turn it until the dots are round. It's that or replace the focus yoke

Wait a sec, how many adjustments knobs are there? If the middle row doesn't have one, then you have 4 pole magnets. you most likely need 6 pole to get rid of the triangles, but finding the 6 poles is hard.

OK, you should be able to fix this with the middle ring as Tim says. What I'd do first is unplug the astig connectors from the astig board, so that the electronic astig adjustment is disconnected from each tube:

reconnnect after you've set the astig magnets on the tube neck. Then retweak the electronic astig settings.

OK
The middle ring helps. It turns triangles into almost circles. Quail eggs would be more accurate.
If I'm going down this road then OK let's go.
Do I have this right?
The knobs control how aggressive the affect of turning the ring is.
The 2 pole or flare ring (closest to the coils) is the most aggressive, the next 2 rings are "fine tuning?
In between making adjustments, switch menus and adjust focus up and down past the clear point and look for flares, shape of blob and flaring?
If the middle ring is triangle correction, why is it a fine adjustment from the 2 pole?
Look at the centre only?

The CPC magnets are clearly marked with white. There are 2 sets of markings but it's easy enough to go back to where they were.
Adjusting EM focus with the crosshatch and dots, changes the dots from little vertical lines to little horizontal lines.
If this sounds normal then the CPCs are gonna stay where they are ,but?????
Am I trying too hard or is this what I should get?

Hello
Set properly, the dots should be round at any focus value

Looking for dots with halos the best I get is triangles with a dot in the upper left( on screen)
