|

Hi Everybody!
I have been searching high and low on the web trying to locate the Barco serial command list. The best I have to show for it is dead links and documents that don't exist anymore. Does anyone have the full RS232 control protocol for Barco's? Particularly the command set for the Cine8/1200x, though they are probably all the same.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, not only for me but anyone else in need of the commands.
Your friend in time,
Brad

Hey Barclay, can you either post it or email it to me as well? I need it for the Irule stuff, and I'll see if Kal can post it, since it's not on the main site apparently.

I couldn't find anything on the Cine8/1200x in a quick search either, but I did find a manual for the Runco DTV-1200 (Cine 9), which had commands, and it looks like the DTV-992 Ultra (BG 808s) is also the same, that should be all you need.
Curt, I can build that device out in Builder if you want. It's such a small protocol set, it'll only take me like 10 minutes.
Cheers,
SC
Structure:
Byte 1 - wake-up command. Always "02"
Byte 2 - command offset. Normally "00", changed if there is another "02"in the command. Byte 3 - Projector address. Normally "00" will address all projectors.
Byte 4 - Main Command
Byte 5 - additional data
Byte 6 - additional data
Byte 7 - additional data
Byte 8 - additional data
Byte 9 - checksum. Add byte 3 - 8 without offset, then add offset and take last two Bytes.

Steve, that would be great, as I'll use it my own HT. I did order an RS-232 Itach box, so I'll give that a shot. Am also making calls to a couple of the commercial suppliers that I deal with WRT their RS232 codes.
I'm all over that RS232 controlled potentiometer box in the other thread, but am getting a bit ahead of myself. Need to put in a few more days learning IRule programming, then to build up a demo system as per our emails yesterday. Then I hit the road. Am already talking to a planetarium, and will put together an information package to send out in one of the upcoming mailers as well, both on the CRT and sound end of things.

What projector do you have in your HT, Curt? I thought you had a Marquee, and were considering G90 (or stack).

Well, for what I do, I'll need them all. I have a Barco retro 808 in the 'family' room (me and 4 dogs), so that's the first place I'll put the Irule...

Dang! Where were you guys on Sunday? I built an entire device profile from scratch... over a period of three hours!
The manual I was using wayyyy overcomplicated the whole offset and checksum deal.
A tip though - there are also commands to force the power toggle into power on standby. I used an offset of 3 for all of my commands, so that I wouldn't have to worry about a value of 2 showing up, but here are what I came up with:
Power On: \x02\x03\x03\x54\x0D\x03\x03\x04\x5F
Power Off: \x02\x03\x03\x54\x0D\x03\x03\x03\x5E
These discrete codes are handy for system on/off macros. There are also commands to force a certain input to be used, if you are interested. I use this to switch between input 5 and input 95 for two different resolutions with different geometries, but similar timings.
Edit: Whoops, looks like I got ahead of myself, your manuals had discrete power on and power off commands. Dang! I really wish I had seen one of those beforehand!

Thank you everyone! Next step is to figure out how to make AMX Netlinx send out the commands.

For anyone looking around for controlling a Barco CRT with AMX Netlinx NL-3000 here is the command that i got to work after blowing the fuse in the SMPS :-0 I used the comm port on the rear of the projector with a RJ-45 adapter that i should have checked, but did not!!! I powered up the projector and lost 12v, DOH! Using a proper cable and the port on the front of the unit i successfully sent it the power on command.
dev CINE8=32002:1:0
SEND_STRING CINE8, "$02,$00,$00,$51,$0A,$00,$00,$01,$5C"

Hi Guys,
I'm trying to get my Barco 909 Split pack(SEOS SH-919) to work with iRule and GC-100-12 gateway using RS-232 but can't get it to work yet.
I used a straight RS-232 cable to connect with GC-100-12 and barco RS-232 In.
Build an new device in builder with network codes like this for power on: \x02\x00\x00\x51\x00\x00\x00\x01\x5C
Also set projector address to 000 and common address to 0
And tried to set the serial port of the GC-100-12 to baud rate 9600
If I connect PC to the barco with RS-232 cable I can control it with the Barco controller software to power on etc.
Someone an idea?

Are you using the same serial cable to control with the PC/software as you are with the GC-100? Your command code looks fine, and you said you double-checked the serial port settings in the GC-100 to match the Barco… In almost every case where people are having trouble with a serial device, it's because the cable is wrong. I think the GC-100 is backwards, or some devices are backwards - can't remember which. Either way, throw a crossover cable or a null adapter on there, and I bet you'll be in business.
I usually use unterminated serial cables to avoid the issue, but when I do have to use terminated cables, they're so cheap, I've just started buying two of everything - in null and crossover - so I can use whichever one works. It's faster and easier than digging through often nonexistent documentation looking for how the serial port is wired on a piece of hardware.
Cheers,
SC

Hi SC,
Well yes I used the straight same serial cable hooked it on my laptop and all works
That's why I don't have a clue what's wrong here. The only thing I noticed is that when I set the GC-100 within it's own software to 9600 and hit apply, log out and in again the drop down menu shows 38400 again.
I'm a bit carefull with putting other RS-232 cables as I've read some posts about blowing RS-232 cards and even main power supply fuses with wrong cables.
I know that for the GC-100-12 is wired:
pin 5: earth
pin 4: DTR +12V
pin 8: CTS
pin 3: TxD
pin 7: RTS
pin 2: RxD
for the Barco I'll have to check. will try some more.

I haven't been able to get my Barco working either yet, but note a couple of things:
The 'old' IR commands for Barco (pre 1998) don't use a carrier for the IR. I thought the frequency was way off, as a number of universal remotes can't learn the old Barco codes either, but the GC100 allows for that in their setup menus for it.
The newer barco codes DO use a carrier, but I'm not sure if the hex codes changed from the old style codes. I have yet to play with the new style codes, but will soon...
