What a monster! We were 4 to carry it in a narrow corridor and staircase then 2 (my wife and myself) to take it out of the car. It's very heavy and especially imposing.

The inside is a bit dusty and I'm thus going to offer it a good cleaning. The "body" is white, in good condition, but I'm going to repaint it in matt black.
In your opinion, is it better to use a small dry vacuum cleaner, a spray of dry air or a small compressor for dust removal?

I'll post some pics in a few days even if everyone knows the beast!

Regards.

By the sounds of it, you have a strong wife and weak friends. Very Happy

Hi Curt,

Thanks for your answer.
I must say that the seller and his brother are rather strong people but the staircase was an assault course.
My wife is really strong for a woman. I accustomed her to carry heavy things! Mr. Green [/img]

Hi everyone.

You're right qjaky. I have to share my first impressions Wink
I really love my new toy. This projector is really beautiful.

When I saw it at the seller's house, I was a bit disappointed. The 1292 hadn't its body, it was dusty and full of adhesive tape marks. This adhesive tape had served to fix the pipes of an external ventilation in a hushbox.

Once at home, I cleaned the projector and painted the body in black after having cleaned and sanded it. I was rather satisfied with the results.

I think I've made a good deal for $550 because tubes have 2092 hours (if counter never reseted...). I don't know for the chassis...

I haven't installed the 1292 because I have to make tests and to take some measures. I just switched the projector on to verify it. It's noisy, a bit less without the upper cover. I'll try to make an adapted hushbox.

Some pics after cleaning and painting :

Nice! It's a beast. It may be funny but when I look at the picture of an 1292 it always reminds me to this Hungarian locomotive LOL

It's not very kind to laugh at me!!! Mr. Green Mr. Green

I like clean things and as I plan to make a hushbox in which the projector will be partially visible, I want to make it make it as attractive as I can with what is at hand!

What voltage are the fans? If you have 120mm fans anywhere and they are 12 volts look at the Cougar fans

this model COUGAR CFD120 Black HB Fan 120 x 120 x 25mm

http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=8_130&item_id=062855

One of the forum embers has put them in the marquee and he said he can barely hear it.

They have good CFM and also high H2O mm of 1.74 which is pretty good.

Hi nashou.

Thanks for your advice!
Yes I have 120mm fans and they seem to work with 12V.
I'll probably try this Cougar fan.

Hi, welcome between 1292 owners.
I've made the fan mod to my pj, I recommend it, but you need however the hush box.
Look that the pinout of fans is differernt from standard, and there's a pin that controls the rotation, you have to tie it up to 12V, otherwise the pj will stop with an error.

I forgot to say that my 1292 is naked inside the hush box Cool

Hi kabuby77,

Thanks for your welcome and your advices ; I'll take them into account.
I found 1292 are so beautiful when they're wearing their clothes! But it seems that these projectors are less noisy when naked ; so I'll probably undress mine too.

Bye.

You might be lucky and find the new fans will make it tolerable with no hush box. Just look for the other fans in quieter design with the same pressure in mmH2o
