Oh I know, Steve! That's why I thought I'd throw it out there.

Been telling them that. Our SMD machines are just as fast as theirs.

Not that easy. My first thread here was on mounting distance/throw for 808 vs 1209 and how to maximize the raster use. There is not more than perhaps 300 mm to play with length-wise on my unistruts and the 1209 has narrower beam angle to start with IIRC. I will end up hitting the wall behind it if I where to compensate. Reducing alpha is easy though and new job will soon mean new apartment.
Interesting about corner focus and astig. Like I said before, the raster is maxed out on the 808 and the corner focus and corner astig are bad/gives a soft picture. I thought it was the limitation of an 8" AC and didn't give it much thought.

If thats the case, you aint gonna fill the screen with a 9" at the same throw as an 8" AC. My CineMAX is almost 800mm further back than my XG was for the same size screen.

Then I'm screwed either way. If I remove the curtains and mount it flush against the wall, I will have about 600 mm.

Have you even tried?
There is no point spectulating. Just do it.

No, if other people have (you) and it will save me the hassle of taking down the first projector, drill new holes into the concrete ceiling, move the unistruts, move the sofa, take down the curtains and hoist the 1209 only to find that it will not fill the screen, it will stay where it is.
I haven't changed my mind. I figured it will be worth more money if complete in one piece and it sure as hell takes up a lot less floor space.
