Won an auction for a NEC XG 135LC on e-bay, considering the tube wear on the pictures and the DVI card in the projector I think this is a decent deal, and it seems I have a good opportunity on the transportation to Hungary as well... hm getting excited Thumbs Up

I only bidded because it's LC, I am curious what will be the difference in focus between the XG and the current PG xtra.

Hi qjaky.

Congratulations.

I had seen the auction but no solution for a delivery and the item was too far... Otherwise I would have bidden!

Bye.

Don't let Curt hear this. The 500 mile distance is basically a nap for him. Mr. Green

Mr. Green

1300 miles. Don't have enough time. And fuel + highway = 450€, so the deal becomes less interesting! Confused

The projector is here. I haven't seen an XGLC in person until now, and didn't know it has a different faceplate than the XG AC, this is looking even better. The case is quite dirty, it surely misses a good wash, or even a new paint... I fired it up only for a short period after 12 hours of sitting, I don't know but this thing don't seem to be near as loud as the PG xtra (with top covers off at least), and didn't see any evidence on fan mods.
Anyway what's the point of that single fan between the green and blue lens, there is not even a venting hole for it, and looks like just pushing the air to nowhere, AC machines don't have that as I recall.

I don't know what the fan is for, I agree, it makes NO sense! Smile Sounds like your machine is completely stock though.

Since the LC sets pushing the tubes even harder maybe some extra cooling for the FBTs? But that is still quite far from there... Maybe I'll just pull it out and bridge the protection and will see if it fails Very Happy

So, the counter says 2680hrs, that's about what I expected.
It doesn't put out a menu if there is no sync on RGB, (it seems to be stuck in a loop) because the menu actually flashes for moments, but then disappear, with source: it locks, and get menu too, though I noticed some jittery horizontal movement, I hope they are corroded yoke connectors and not the SYS board. You prefer the front piece from the LC? I reckon its ugly as sin myself, much nicer on the AC!! I dont know why they made them different.

You can unplug that fan and itll still operate. Its not connected on Aussie_Al's LC. But why bother? Its not hurting anything, and its not like its going to make the set notably louder. I cant see a good reason to touch it.

The HD18 lens is much shorter than the HD144/5 probably that's why needed to deepen the faceplate.

I think the overal noise of the machine is coming from the sum of the 8 installed fans, the fact that I found it less noisy than I expected not means I don't want it to be more silent Smile So the less fans the less noise. Or even if I'm not pulling out that fan entirely then I'd surely put it somewhere near to the focus board at least, there is a great need for it there... I don't have a space for a hushbox, it will be a small miracle if it would fit actually in the place of the PG xtra Very Happy

Al's LC is considerably quieter than my AC, but the noise isnt an issue for me.
