|
|
This was posted in my thread in the Screens forum but that thread appears to be dead so sorry it this counts as a double post.
I'm about to ceiling mount my G90 using the PSS-90 bracket. Ill be shooting for a 8 foot wide (horizontal) image as suggested by ecrabb, in order to get good brightness without having to push the tubes too hard. My question is, assuming maximum horizontal raster usage, How far back should it be from the screen? More specifically, the front edge of the PSS-90 plate that bolts to the ceiling?
Thanks!

Generally, use 1.35 X the width of the screen, but why not set the projector up on the floor first to make sure you're at the right distance?
you don't need to do a good setup, just concentrate on the green tube, use a good amount of the raster by looking into the lens with sunglasses on, mark the spot, then hang the bracket.
The key to extend tube life in a G90 is also to keep the contrast under 80, try for about 60-65 and see if the pix is still punchy enough for you.

Makes sense to set it up on the floor first and just focus on the green. But according to the install manual on page 10, it looks like the default 120" diagonal screen is exactly what's needed to obtain a 96" wide image. If the actual image ends up being slightly larger because of full raster usage that's fine. The reason is id like to base install off the default fixed 120" lens toe in, the more variables I can eliminate the better since this is my first time attempting a CRT PJ setup at all.
So I guess the long and short of my question is: With the lens toe in screws in the fixed 120" positions, am I correct that the PJ front edge should be exactly 126 3/4" from the screen plane, according to page 12 on the install manual?
Thanks!
