A question,,, the hv wire seems glued to the tube? Can this be moved at all?
I just put a little wiggle to it,, not enough to move it but has seemed to fix my problem..

Don't play with that with the projector on. You can be zapped! 34 000 volts.
There's a clip under that suction cup that clips into the hole in the tube, if that has come loose it could cause you problems. The suction cup part is siliconed into place. Try wiggling it to re-seat it with the projector off for at least 2 minutes. You may be able to grab the sides of the clip and squeeze then wiggle to seat it.

The high voltage I'm well aware of, it's just I haven't worked on these for years and I'm not as young as I used to be..
So if it's just a sealant but not part of the vacuum of the tube I'll be ok..

Oh ok, you wont need our help then
He said dont play with it while its on, and i suggest you heed that advice, cause it WILL boot you through the insulation.

CasetheCorvetteman, you got it right and I'm happy it was just the hv wire.
Thanks

Analogrocks, when you've worked as long as I have on electronics you get zapped many times over the years and build up immunity,,,
I'm up to a 50kv tolerance now.
