Hi,
I'm trying to center the rasters on the tube face. I'm having no luck at all. I have my remote wired to the projector. When I try to move raster up,down, left or right nothing happens. I'm in the service man mode. Am I missing something here? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Dan

you're using Zone 1, via the zone button on the bottom right of the keypad or remote?

If so, this is new to me, never seen this before. Do the convergence controls work otherwise?

Curt,

I'm not using zone at the convergence buttons. I was using the shift key in the upper left side of the remote while in the service man mode. Yes the convergence controls do work. I haven't gotten that far in my setup to use the zone control. Unless your telling me to use the zone controls to center raster on the tube face. One other thing I did notice as I powered off the projector a red dot move to the center of the screen as it was shutting down is this normal?

Thanks,
Dan

then you're not raster shifting! Raster shift is zone with zone 1 for the three colors. You're using the image shift button, which does nothing to the raster.

The red dot almost always indicates a contaminated tube. If the blacks are reddish in color and are flickering, you need a new red tube. I've got a couple here for cheap.

I'm not sure if Zone 1 is synonymous with the registration control CENT or if it is a bias added to CENT.

I recommend resetting all ZONE controls to 128 then adjust CENT, LIN iteratively.

Zone is saved to last. Usually to tweak some spot/isolated convergence issue like the corners.

Not in the case of the G70. Zone 1 is used to center the rasters. The H direction is usually pretty close, but there's no way to get the V positioning by the R and B shift buttons. WHile 128 is center indeed, on some G70s I've had the V shift as high as 180 or as low as 90 to get the R G and B rasters to overlap properly.

I do agree with you though on the other zones of convergence.

Zone 1 and "center" are the same control on the G projectors and both move the raster. Shift moves the image inside the raster... pretty much what Curt said. Be sure to open up the "blanking" all the way on all four sides before adjusting shift.
