New to the forum!
My theater was damaged by a hot water tank leak back in 2005 and shortly thereafter I had an extensive change of life. Now I'm in a new house, and I'm building another theater!
I picked up a JVC RS10 in 2009 and watched one movie on a temporary screen before packjng it away. I also took down my 9500 and it has been sitting upsidedown for all these years.
I just went to look at it yesterday and the bellows have weeped glycol all over. I thought it was over, I flipped it over and did a panicked disassembly. Lots of rusty screws up front, but since it was stored upsidedown, nothing in the electronics!
I drained all the glycol and separated and removed the bellows on all the tubes.I see no wear on blue and red, and a nice even light burn on my green.
Should I dump all the rusty screws? Are there screw kits? How can you neutralize the Glycol? Thinking of washing the screws and using some of the rust dissolver.
Anyways... the RS10 was ok... The 9500lc was AWESOME! I really hope I can get it running again!

Definitely get stainless screws. Take one of the old one to a screw place (Home Depot might even have them?). I know I am going to buy 200 as I've got a bunch of rusted ones here too.
Get new bellows from Nash here on the site, you can order right from him on the main site under the 'for sale' section.

Sorry the last one Just sold today to the same buyer who bought a set last week.
But I do have more on Order. Might be a few weeks before they are in.
But Id get a new set of bellows if your Serious about keeping her up and running.
The new material for the bellows are a much better rubber.
PS, I might have another set in my shop, I have to rummage through all my parts.

Nash I may be getting a set in the not too distant future as mine still has the factory bellows(not sure though on how to tell) the green tube has writing from vdc on the mounting hardware
Also how in the world do I adjust the lens flapping????(the manual doesn't cover it much in detail for the 9500lc)

On the tubes i have here the original belows are verry different,,
My 1997 Vidikron is swetting like crazy, but all the new tubes and my 2004 Marquee seems to use a different below, much thicker and robust.
So i guess it depends how old the Marquee is.
Also seems like the later ones dont use silicone to mount the below, from what i have seen so far.
Looking them ill say the latest one looking more like rubbed in talcum, where the old ones look all black.

The set I pulled them from was 95 on the bulid date
But the tubes were new so still no clue unless the orgenial mounting hardware was reused but the bellows are black but have yet to swet
Though I think it depends on climate also as I have yet to have a projection tv tube give issues with glycol leaks or sweating

The sweating is the glycol seeping through the rubber. With the older bellows some sweat some just would build up the pressure and burst a hole in the bellow.
If they are not sweating then check the pressure by pressing on the bellow. If it feels hard then you need to relieve pressure by unscrewing the fill hole screws. Be careful as it will shoot out all over if under pressure.
The bellows I had made also do not need silicon if the mount face plate is nice and clean free of any old silicon or bellow material.

They all three are still soft to the touch the green is a bit firmer then the red and blue but so far no sweating from any of them yet
I will be keeping a close check in the summer as it does get humid and I don't want to risk having one leak out

Bleed them regardless! Takes only a few minutes. Some bellows feel squishy, but are under pressure. A couple of minutes now will prevent disaster later.

I have some extra, brand new TV coolant price listed here for half of retail cost, enough to do all 3 tubes.

Heh, that was me that bought the two sets. Thanks for the heads up!
Now I'm afraid I might have wrecked a C element. I dried it with a paper towel! Need to take a look at it. Curt says it's probably fine. I had no idea they were plastic!

Don't worry. The plastic is remarkably hard on its surface. I've replaced and mounted lots of them and never found a single scratch after cleaning (paper towels, soft cloth etc.). They're not like some plastic lenses that get scratched when using anything else than compressed air for cleaning.
And if You find a small scratch: Don't worry either, it's outside the focal plane and won't be visible...

Been there before the c element is pretty tough so its hard to really scratch it
