I don't think you are a troll, but I do have to question your premise. Unless you bought this used, you spent $5k new. To let that much money pretty much go to waste means you must have more money than you know what to do with.

I payed 6400$, and changed the bulb once.. i think i put around 1000 hours on the machine. so around 7$ pr hour, and i bet that ½ the hours are heat up and calibration time., so ill guess around 14$ pr movie hour.

But there is some good about it.. It dont matter what meter you calibrate with.. The projector wont measure the same 2 days..

Its not bad if you have a perfect temp controled room, and like to calibrate, i just prefer the CRT and more natural way to reproduce the image.

I was planing on buying and testing the auto calibrate on it, when i get my HT room up running again.

My last CRT was my Zenith 1200 which I sold back in early 2013. I've had a JVC RS56 on the ceiling for almost a year now. I have zero interest in going back to CRT, even if it was a Cine 9 as I really like everything about this RS56. YMMV of course!

My PG10 will most likely be the end for me. I have a M8500 tucked away in the basement as a backup. I may pop some 9" LC's in there but right now I just want to enjoy movies and not constantly tinker. Although reading the recent thread with Mike Parker's new mods has sparked my interest a little.

It dont have much value, and selling it with the loss ill get, ill prefer keeping it and loos all the money..

What makes you say that? Resale on them is quite good from what I've seen.

I'd also point out that your logic is iffy at best... If you're losing a lot of money selling it, then you're losing a lot more by keeping it.

just to be able to drag it out of the box from time to time and confirm that its still dont deserve to hang in my room.

I also use it to take out and demo how it looks, and show potential JVC buyers what shortcommings these machines have.

Oh, lord. Total face palm.

I guess you're pretty wealthy if you just keep a multi-thousand dollar projector sitting around in the box "just to show people its shortcomings".

Please.

I'm starting to wonder whether you actually even have one, or if perhaps you're just a troll.

Honestly, it took me awhile to get comfortable with her being there. I mean Curt and I were talking and then all of a sudden our waitress decides to sit down with us for several minutes at a time. Do we continue our subject conversation or do we stop and talk to her? A lot of stops and starts to Curt and myselfs conversation. Well except for the last one which was about sex. Shocked Laughing

.

Very true. I was starting a pretty explicit story, and then she goes and sits down with us...again, and I point blank told her that I was going to get pretty crude and lewd, to which she responded: 'Oh, you're talking about sex? BRING IT ON!'

So yeah, she got an uncensored earful. Mr. Green

If that is the case Curt......we should not be hearing from you for a few days!!! Thumbs Up

Seriously, these will most likely be my last. No reason for them to last over 10 years, and considering I'm almost 50, and my dad and grandfather died in their early 60s, I see no reason to ever buy/inherit a digital.

Sheesh, way to throw a damper on the thread right off the bat.

But seriously, Curt--please don't die.

Problem was, she had a b/f. I would have been a dirty old man right to her face had she not mentioned a b/f. Very Happy

As for dying, nah, not on my bucket list. Still, I turn 50 in 2 weeks, so I guess it's all downhill from here. I had to buy reading glasses 6 months ago, that was about the only time I felt old so far.
